Factual errors: In one of the intertitle cards at the end, the Smithsonian Institution is referred to as the "Smithsonian Institute".
Anachronisms: In the "fixed" tasting at the bar, bar codes can be seen on the bottle labels. Bar codes were not printed on wine bottles in 1976, of course.
Factual errors: When the Napa wine makers all scramble to meet Stephen Spurrier with their bottles of wine, one person is clearly offering a prop bottle of "Canadian Club" whiskey as if it were a wine.
Anachronisms: The Russian Ural sidecar motorcycle ridden by Gustavo was not available in US spec trim as shown in the movie until 1996.
Continuity: When Sam, Gustavo and Bo are encountering the big truck driver, Sam's off the shoulder top changes position from shot to shot.
Anachronisms: The shot of the 737 landing at the airport when Spurrier is returning to Paris shows the flattened intakes of a 737-300 or later series aircraft with CFM56-3 or 7 series engines. This engine was not used on the 737 until 1984.
Anachronisms: In one scene, a CA license plate of the form "1 ABC 123" is shown, while such license plates weren't issued until 1980. In 1976, CA license plates had the form "123 ABC"
Anachronisms: In a bar scene, the back of a modern looking bottle of Anchor Steam beer is visible. These bottles looked different in 1976.
Continuity: In the scene where Gustavo pours some of his red wine into a water glass and tells Bo, several times, "try it", the level of wine in the glass is constantly changing, from nearly full to only a sip, even before Bo drinks any of the wine.
Anachronisms: As Spurrier (Alan Rickman) is tasting wines in the bar in California, we see half of a Benziger Cabernet label - a yellow label on a bottle with a red foil wrapping on the neck. You can clearly see the last three letters of "Benziger", a vineyard that wasn't founded until 1980.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: While Bo and Sam are kissing before Bo leaves for France, she's holding his face while two wisps of hair droop down on his right side. When the camera films to show her face, all his hair is pushed back by her hands.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Steven Spurrier is at the ticket counter, and states to the ticked agent he wishes to fly on flight 349 in English, the German man states "ZWEI vier neun" or TWO four nine.
Continuity: When Steven Surrier leaves a 5 US dollar tasting fee at the winery under the ashtray, the owner of the winery picks it up and holds a different bill.
