An episode that sets up the season finale, 6 March 2007

This is the last Jasmine episode. Honestly, it isn't my favorite story line or my favorite episode, but it still has some good parts. Plus, it sets up the season finale, which, in turn, sets up all of season five. The most important aspect of the episode is Conner hitting rock bottom. Without seeing his cold, unfeeling despair, it will be hard to understand the decision Angel makes in "Home."
"Peace Out" revolves around the defeat of Jasmine. It picks up right where "Sacrifice" left off. Angel has been transported to that demon dimension, where Jasmine once ruled for thousands of years. He's searching for Jasmine's real name, which is the one thing that can break her brainwashing spell back on Earth. He battles the demon priest of her temple and pretty soon he discovers that he has to kill a giant monster called the "Keeper of the Name." The priest guy starts telling Angel that Angel isn't fighting to save the world anymore... He's fighting for Conner and soon he'll loose him, too. Just as he lost Cordy. Soon, the priest is dead and Angel has the head of the "Keeper of the Name."
Back on Earth, Conner locks up Team Angel in Angelus' old cage in the basement. Wes has deduced that Jasmine is eating her followers and that Conner has always seen her true face. With Cordy missing, Conner starts to worry that maybe Jasmine has devoured her. He goes looking for Cordy and finds her in a church. There he tells her comatose body that he's tried to go along with Jasmine, but he can't believe her lies any longer and he's tired of fighting. As Jasmine appears before the world media gathered at the Hyperion, Angel comes through a portal in the lobby. Holding up the demon's head, he cuts opens it's sealed mouth and it emits a gaspy word that is Jasmine true name.
Instantly, people begin to see Jasmine for the maggot monster that she is. People run away in terror as Jasmine tries to get them to love her again. Angel follows her outside, and tells her that her plan is over. Jasmine insists that all she wanted to do was bring peace, but Angel says that people have a right to make their own choice... Even if those choices are wrong. He and Jasmie fight. Then Conner shows up. He calmly punched a fist through Jasmine's head and the run off. Angel is worried that Conner is finally loosing it. He goes looking for his friends, who have broken out of the basement and who are meeting with an unexpected guest in the hotel lobby... Lilah.
There are some good parts to this episode. I like all the reporters coming to the Hyperion to see Jasmine. They have some real tough questions for her, for instance "How can we worship you?" Jasmine's response, "Just love each other... And a temple would be nice." cracks me up. Also, I like the sign outside the church that's praising Jasmine with the words "God is Nowhere." It's a play on words, "God is no where" or "God is now here," depending on how you read it, which is cool. And it's sort of interesting that Conner's always seen Jasmine as a hideous, maggot-y monster. He did grow up in a hell dimension, so he's used to demons. Besides, he's Jasmine's "father." If Cordy's blood is an antidote to Jasmine spell because Cordelia's her mother, than I guess it only makes sense that Conner's blood would make him immune to the spell, too. Too bad Team Angel didn't consider that sooner. Finally, I'm always happy to see Lilah again.
On the down side, I would have liked Jasmine's real name to be a word that I could actually understand. Also, I wish that Cordy had woken up and helped defeat Jasmine. I miss her. And why did Conner have to beat up those guys in order to find Cordy in the church? Isn't he like a super tracker? Can't he jut follow her scent?
My favorite part of the episode: Gunn kicking the cage door until it opens. Not only is it funny & unexpected, but I like his line "Never give up, never surrender." I think he's quoting the movie "Galaxy Quest," which I've always loved.

I know she's a lie. Jasmine. My whole life's been built on them. I just, I guess I thought this one was better than the others - A fabulous closure to the 'Jasmine'-arc. I really think the Jasmine-arc got better each episode, making this one an absolute favorite. 'Jasmine' is planning on going worldwide and 'enslaving' the entire world, while 'Angel' goes to another dimension where he can find her name and take her powers away. What really impressed me this episode was the excellent dialog, my favorite scene was probably 'Connor' in church confessing everything to Comatosed-Cordy, telling her that he has known about 'Jasmine' all along and that he went with the flow and tried to believe, even if it didn't work for him. My second favorite scene was the 'Angel' vs 'Jasmine' scene, cars flying around, Maggot-heads getting electrocuted and the kissage. I remember being shocked when 'Connor' put his fist through 'Jasmine's head, shocked and pleased. I don't think anyone other than Connor had the right to kill Jazzy, I liked her but she screw up the poor kid more than he already was. I also loved the ending obviously, with 'Lilah' making her last appearance. Awesome episode, great build up for the next episode. JASMINE: Why do you hate me so much? ANGEL: Let's run down the list, huh? Rain of fire, blotting out the sun, enslaving mankind, and, yeah, oh, yeah, hey, you eat people! JASMINE: Like you never have? ANGEL: Thousands of people are dead because of what you've done. JASMINE: And how many will die because of you? I could've stopped it, Angel. All of it. War, disease, poverty. How many precious, beautiful lives would've been saved in a handful of years? Yes, I murdered thousands to save billions. This world is doomed to drown in its own blood now. ANGEL: The price was too high, Jasmine. Our fate has to be our own, or we're nothing. (10 out of 10)
