Cult Spy Icon: Kellerman ('Prison Break')

11 October 2008 11:00 PM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Nothing seems permanent in Prison Break. There's Sara Tancredi’s 'temporary' death by decapitation, plus Scofield's entire upper body tattoo being easily removed and the characters' general unwillingness to stay in any cell for too long. But in terms of character transitions, Agent Kellerman wonderfully represents the ability to shift from one side of the fence to the other, while never losing his dark morals along the way. Paul Kellerman, with a strong chin that defies his soft eyes, was initially a clear-cut villain, mercilessly stalking his prey on behalf of The Company and barely showing any flicker of emotion when killing anyone. He worked tirelessly to prevent those trying to uncover the truth about the wrongly convicted Lincoln Burrows, who was precariously perched on Death Row. He was at his worst early on in the first season when he baited (more)

International Trailer for Transporter 3

10 October 2008 9:13 AM, PDT | From TwitchFilm.net | See recent Twitch news

The international trailer for Transporter 3 has arrived online via Allocine.fr.  In the third installment of the Transporter series, Jason Staham is back to reprise the role of Frank Martin, the high risk delivery driver and the new baddie he must contend with is played by Robert Knepper of Prison Break fame.  Taking over the director chair is Olivier Megaton while Corey Yuen returns as the Martial Arts choreographer.  This sure as hell ain’t going to win audience over with character depth or compelling storyline but for those just looking for a mindless thrill ride, then look no further.  Here’s the official synopsis:

Frank Martin has been pressured into transporting Valentina, the kidnapped daughter of Leonid Vasilev, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency for the Ukraine, from Marseilles through Stuttgart and Budapest until he ends up in Odessa on the Black Sea. Along the way, with the help of Inspector Tarconi,

'Heroes' Takes A Huge Tumble, 'Sarah Connor' Struggles

7 October 2008 12:36 PM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

Things aren't looking good for Monday night science-fiction television. "Heroes," a signature show of NBC since it premiered three years ago, is clocking in by far its lowest ratings ever. It scored a 5.0 rating/7 share Monday night, a drop of more than 12 percent from last week, and down 18 percent from its already anemic season premiere just a few weeks ago. Those numbers are from Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, which also measured a 3.5/5 for "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" on Fox, slightly larger than the audience from the previous week. "Heroes" was beat by everything that aired in the 8 p.m. hour, beating "Prison Break" on Fox and reruns on The CW. It was easily beaten by "Dancing With the Stars" and comedies on CBS. "Sarah Connor" was only able ...

'Prison Break's Great Character Assassinations

5 October 2008 12:00 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

In television, everything has a shelf life. Prison Break appeared to be dangerously nearing its expiry date during the insipid third season. It was spared the axe in the hope that its quality could be restored to its early glory days, but despite a cast reshuffle and new mission, interest is still on the wane. Cult Spy looks at the increasing ineffectiveness of the characters on the show. There's little doubt that the first two seasons of the jailbreak drama were consistently gripping and great, as we marvelled at Michael Scofield's cunning plans and the fractious relationships between the dastardly convicts. The constraints of the show's title and format compelled Prison Break's creative forces to place several characters behind bars in Sona Prison last year, but this paled in comparison to the thrilling Fox River days. A procession of dire episodes ensued, (more)

Fox Terminating 'Sarah Connor'?

2 October 2008 4:09 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Just barely a season in, Fox might be ready to pull the plug on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, possibly within the next week.

According to SyFy Portal, the audience just hasn't come back from the new season of the show, which stars Lena Headey, Thomas Dekker, and Summer Glau, so much so that Fox executives feel it's also bringing down the numbers for Prison Break, which follows it on Monday nights and has had a four-year run on the network.

One source tells SyFy, "Our biggest surprise are the 18-to-49s [a key advertising demographic], those numbers are in the toilet."

The audience is roughly one-third of what it was last year, and even worse, the most-watched episode generated a 4.1 rating, well below the lowest rating in the first season (4.5).

"All I can say is that production will likely stop, and I would think that Fox might try to air some of the episodes already in the can,

'Sarah Connor' Targeted for Termination?

1 October 2008 11:14 AM, PDT | From Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news

The fate of mankind hangs in the balance as the Fox network considers canceling Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Ratings for the show have been abysmal this year. A report from SyFy Portal pegs Sarah's lowest rating last season at 4.5/7. This season, it's highest rating is 4.1/6 and is averaging a 3.7, resulting in 34% off its audience average from last year.

The numbers translate to 5.33 million viewers, down 480,000 from last week. Yeowch.

A source close to the situation tells SyFy that there's some doom and gloom regarding the series' future. "All I can say is that production will likely stop, and I would think that Fox might try to air some of the episodes already in the can," says the source.

"But I don't know. They don't want to lose Prison Break, so there could be some schedule shuffling in the future."

'Prison Break' to be saved by 'Terminator' axe?

1 October 2008 3:52 AM, PDT | From Digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles has reportedly been blamed by Fox for adversely affecting Prison Break's dwindling Us ratings. "Audiences just aren't responding to the show," a Fox source told website SyFy Portal about Sarah Connor, which is screened at 8pm on Monday nights as a lead-in to the jailbreak drama. "Our biggest surprise is the 18-to-49s [demographic] - those numbers are in the toilet." The insider added that Fox is likely to axe the Terminator spinoff (more)

Fox Close To Terminating 'Sarah Connor'

30 September 2008 6:10 AM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

With ratings far below even the network's worst predictions, Fox could pull the plug on production for "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" as early as this week. The network has been disappointed by "Sarah Connor's" numbers so far this season, and some executives feel that the show is dragging down numbers for "Prison Break," which airs as a lead-out. "Audiences just aren't responding to the show," a Fox source tells SyFy Portal. "Our biggest surprise are the 18-to-49s [a key advertising demographic], those numbers are in the toilet." This would be bad news for "Sarah Connor," which had a strong first season despite airing just nine episodes in light of the Writers Guild of America strike. The show debuted at mid-season with an 11.1 rating/16 share -- the highest premiere ...

Valance: 'Court Case Left Me Broke'

21 September 2008 6:28 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Prison Break star Holly Valance was left broke following a court battle with her former manager - insisting a "plumber" made more money than her at the time.

The Australian actress made her name in her native country, starring in soap opera Neighbours, but her promising career had to be put on hold when her ex-manager sued her for alleged breach of contract.

In 2003 Valance was forced to pay out around $259,000 (GBP140,000) in compensation as well as spiralling legal costs. And she insists that the incident stripped her of all her savings and left her completely penniless.

She says, "The case also cost millions of (Australian) dollars in lawyers fees. I was not all that wealthy, either. A plumber would make more money than you get out of working on Neighbours. I had to think of it as a new beginning. I thought, 'It is just a number in a bank account'. I did not grow up with money so I knew I could live without it."

Valance went on to launch a music career, and has also starred in several high profile U.S. TV shows, including CSI: Miami.

She is about to appear on the big screen alongside Liam Neeson in new movie Taken.

'Sarah Connor' Audience Loses Another 12 Percent

16 September 2008 1:16 PM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" will need to find some new ways to attract an audience after yet another lackluster week put the series at a new low. The Fox series earned a 3.5 rating/6 share according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, off 12 percent from its previous series low in its second premiere last week. It even finished lower than its lead-out show "Prison Break," which ticked a bit higher with a 3.6/5. "Sarah Connor" proved that television watchers were more interested in Terminators than Batman, as ABC aired "Batman Begins," but "Deal or No Deal" on NBC and reruns of comedies on CBS were too much for Fox otherwise. The network ended Monday in fourth place, according to Zap2it, with a 3.6/5, but in terms of actual viewers, was actually tied ...
