believe the average rating, not the comments

I'm always on the lookout for straight-to-DVD gems, something that slipped through the cracks but turns out to be much better than expected. This movie isn't one of those. The comments on IMDb so far don't seem to reflect the movie I just saw.

Now I appreciate all the time & effort that goes into making a movie, especially an indie movie. The constraints on production are severe. In this case, however, I feel the poor script weakens the entire effort and the result is sub-par.

The production values are good. The acting is generally o.k. with a little scenery chewing from the mob types. I felt the story tried to create entertaining tangents (buying the shovel, burying the body, the 'overdose' etc) which weren't ultimately that entertaining, and they ended up slowing the overall pace.

If more attention had been paid to the central story arc it might have been more compelling.

Also, Diora Baird is a stone cold fox.
