It's been a long time coming, but Steven Soderbergh's two-part biopic about Argentine-Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara will finally get the full DVD and Blu-ray release that it deserves this coming January. Apparently they had hoped to have it ready for December, but Soderbergh needed extra time to reconstruct deleted scenes and prepare some of the supplementary material. In the words of Criterion president Peter Becker, the delay was "a trade we will always make, even if it means we don't get the benefit of sales in the holiday season, and we think that's the kind of decision our collectors would want us to make". Kudos to Criterion for that. The extras on this release will include the following: High-definition digital transfers of Che: Part One and Che: Part Two, supervised and approved by director Steven Soderbergh, with DTS-hd Master Audio soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition Audio commentaries on both films, »

You can bring director Steven Soderbergh's two-part epic biopic home in one new DVD and Bd edition next year. Che will be released on DVD and Blu-ray from the Criterion Collection on January 19, 2010. The film, which was released in two separate parts (Che (Part 1) and Che (Part 2)) in theaters will be released as one single film here, with both the DVD and Bd editions priced at $49.95 Srp. Take a look at the cover art and special features below. The film stars Benecio del Toro as Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara.
Far from a conventional biopic, Steven Soderbergh's film about Che Guevara is a fascinating exploration of the revolutionary as icon. Daring in its refusal to make the socialist leader into an easy martyr or hero, Che paints a vivid, naturalistic portrait of the man himself (with a stunning, Cannes-award-winning performance by Benicio del Toro), from his overthrow of the »

Catalina Sandino Moreno is no newcomer to the Hollywood scene. Moreno is an Oscar-nominated actress with some very impressive work under her belt. This twenty-eight-year-old actress hails from Bogota, Colombia, and she was the first ever Colombian to be nominated for an Academy Award. Her husband, David Elwell, is a cinematic lighting technician who worked with her on the film for which she was nominated – Maria Full Of Grace. Moreno won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead in that film, as well as the New Generation Award at the London Critics Circle Film Awards and the Imagen Award, amongst others. Maria Full Of Grace was her first film, if you can believe it, and quite the breakthrough performance for Moreno it was. Following the failure of Che, his biopic of Cuban rebel leader Ernesto Che Guevara, starring Benicio Del Toro, and the recent last-minute decision by Sony to abort the production of his Moneyball, which was to have starred Brad Pitt, Steven Soderbergh has told Britain's Guardian newspaper, "I can see the end of my career." In an interview with the newspaper, Soderbergh, whose films include Traffic, Erin Brockovich, and Ocean's Eleven, admitted that he regretted making the four-hour Che, which reportedly cost $58 million to produce and earned about half that amount worldwide. "For a year after we finished shooting I would still wake up in the morning thinking, 'Thank God I'm not shooting that film,'" he said. Soderbergh noted that, given the current economic "landscape," such a film could not have found even the limited financing that it did. "A few more years maybe ... and then the stuff that I'm interested in is only going to be of interest to me. ... And so I've got a list of stuff that I want to do -- that I hope I can do -- and once that's all finished I may just disappear." »

The latest collaboration between Matt Damon and Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean’s trilogy) is the political comedy/thriller entitled The Informant!, that (according to the poster and the trailer) comes equipped with its very own exclamation point. Based on a true story, the plot is of a company vice president-turned informant, Mark Whitacre (Damon), who helps the FBI to take down the company he works for that’s being accused of pricing-fixing tactics.
Today Screen Rant has both the trailer and poster for The Informant! which should have Bourne fans squinting there eyes and asking, “Is that really Matt Damon under that moustache?”
If you count his role in the Ocean’s movies as separate, The Informant! will see Damon collaborating with Soderbergh for the fifth time (he had a blink-and-you’ll-miss-him role in Che: Part Two). Damon is no stranger to diversity with his roles (let’s not forget, »

If you haven't already noticed, I'm a big admirer of great poster designs. Unfortunately we all too often see a lot of terrible posters over the year. So when one pops up that breaks the norm and looks fantastic, I'm always excited to share it. And thankfully, Steven Soderbergh's Che has been gaining momentum anyway due to its expansion into 9 more cities over the next few weeks. Thanks to Empire we've got our first look at the UK quad poster for Che: Part Two. The reason why I love this poster so much is because they took a considerably old and stale photo and gave it new life and new energy on a fantastic poster. For those interested, the back-to-back "Roadshow Edition" of Che will be expanding to theaters in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC starting on January 16th. Additionally, beginning on »
