Well if they were to be that it would go on forever....and it does actually.
But anyway this is just the first part where she comes to Las Vegas, from San Francisco...and a little background on what is referred to as happening before.
She was engaged to be married to John Carter (yes ER character...told you I'm nuts!!), and she applied for a job in LV didn't think she was in with a chance. However she gets the job. So she breaks off her engagement and moves to LV!! And I have it that she knows Sara from when she worked in SF, they were friends, although I wouldn't say the best of friends...just work collegues.

Juanita Scott pulled her SUV into a parking space outside the Las Vegas Crime Lab building, and turned off the engine. She opened her door and got out grabbing her bag and field kit box, and clipped her CSI ID badge to her shirt, which she had gotten when she came to check out Las Vegas, prior to her move there. At twenty five years of age, she had just moved to Las Vegas to take up a job as a crime scene investigator, level 2. She had previously worked in San Francisco firstly as a police officer and then she made the move into the crime lab, where she was a trace analyst expert as well as a field investigator. She had quickly moved up the ranks, and was currently a CSI level 2. She applied for the position at the Las Vegas Crime Lab, because it was more of a field based position which is what she wanted to do, as being stuck in a lab for entire days on end, was not her, however she didn’t think that she had much of a chance of actually get the position, but actually ended up getting the job, and had therefore made the move to Las Vegas. Although that did mean that she had to make the hard decision of ending things with John Carter, to whom she was engaged to prior to moving. But they both decided that right now they weren’t really ready for marriage as their careers were too important, so mutually they agreed to end things, and remain friends. Juanita took a deep breath as she closed the door of her car and locked it up, sometimes she found it hard to believe the job she did. When she was in high school, she had no intention of being in this sort of work. But some things that happened during college, being kidnapped by her ex boyfriend, Todd Bittle, and then the earthquake that hit the Berkeley California University campus in 2000, that claimed the life of Tanya Sloan, made her rethink the choices that she had made. It was then Juanita realised that she wanted to make a difference in people’s life and decided to change her major from english and journalism to law and science. Although at the time this came as a shock to everyone, they knew not to argue with Juanita, and it soon became clear that this was the right choice for her, as she excelled in the subjects that she took in order to receive her chemistry major and minors in law, anthropology and theatre, and after that her masters in criminology. When Juanita started with the San Francisco police department, she had no idea where it would eventually lead, but she loved her job and the fact that she did make a difference in people’s life's, even though at times some of things that she had faced were pretty gruesome and scary. But she had always been somewhat strong, both physically and mentally, a lot of which she owed to karate, which she had taken since she was four years old, and in which she currently held a sixth level black belt, making her more or less trained in weaponless defence if the need ever arose. Standing at about five foot ten, with brownish blonde hair, tied back in a plait, and minimal make up and jewelry, Juanita made her way into the building, and made her way to Gil Grissom’s office. She knocked on the door. “Come on in” said Grissom, from inside. Juanita walked in to the office. “Hi” she said. Grissom who was sitting at his desk, looked up at her. “Juanita, hello” he replied. Juanita smiled. “So I take it you’re ready for your first night here?” asked Grissom, noticing that she had her field kit with her. “As ready as I’ll ever be” replied Juanita. “Well we already have all the paper work sorted out” said Grissom. Juanita nodded. “Well the only other thing I need to give you is this” said Grissom, taking a gun and gun holster out of his desk drawer. “You’re proficient I take it” said Grissom. “Of course, last gun score was two seventy” replied Juanita. Grissom looked at her in somewhat amazement. “Well that’s good, but hopefully you never have to use it” said Grissom, handing them the gun to her. “Well I haven’t as yet, so here’s hoping that continues” said Juanita, putting the holster with gun in it on her pants. “So if you want to come with me, I can introduce to the rest of the team” said Grissom standing up and walking over to the door. “Sure thing” said Juanita and followed him, down the corridor to the break room, which was more or less a place where the CSI’s went to get away it all. Grissom opened the door and walked inside. Juanita followed him, and put her bag and field kit down on the ground. Juanita noticed two women, a blonde and Sara Sidle, a brunette haired girl that she had once worked with in San Francisco, and two guys, one african american and the other caucasian in the room. “Hey guys” said Grissom. “Hey Gris” said the african american guy. “What you got for us?” asked the blonde girl. “Nothing just yet” said Grissom. “Quiet night, I like it” said the other guy. “Yeah right” said Sara. “Everyone this is Juanita Scott, she’s joining the team, she’s a CSI level 2 from San Francisco, and she will be with us as of tonight” said Grissom. “Hey, I’m Warrick Brown” said the african american guy. “Hi” replied Juanita. “Catherine Willows” said the blonde. Juanita smiled at her. “Nick Stokes” said the other guy, holding out his hand. Juanita shook it. “Hi” she replied. “What are the odds that we both end up here, Juanita” said Sara. “Kismet, I guess” said Juanita. Sara laughed. “You two know each other” said Warrick. “Yeah, Juanita was just starting out, when I got promoted to level 2, in San Francisco” said Sara. “Uh huh” said Juanita. “So cases” said Grissom. “That’s why we’re here” said Warrick. “Right” said Grissom. “Catherine, Sara. 419 out in Summerlin. Intruder shot dead in a home” said Grissom. “Rich folk, huh, cool” said Sara, taking the piece of paper with the case information from Grissom. “Warrick” said Grissom. “Yeah” said Warrick. “You’re with me. That case from last night, still wide open” said Grissom. “Yeah, I have Greg running stuff through DNA just waiting on the results of it” said Warrick. “Good let me know as soon as you find out” said Grissom. Warrick nodded. “Nicky, 401B. At the Mediterranean. That stunt show Wacky Wild Stunts, motorbike crashed.” said Grissom. "Yeah, I’m on it” said Nick. “And you can take Juanita with you” said Grissom. “I can work a case on my own” said Juanita. “I’m sure you can, but for now I just want you to team with Nick” said Grissom. “Okay” said Juanita. “Okay guys, the evidence is disappearing as we speak, let’s get to it” said Grissom. “Alright then” said Sara. “Come on Sara, let’s go” said Catherine. Sara nodded. “Nice meeting you Juanita” said Catherine. “Yeah” said Juanita. “We’ll catch up later” said Sara. Juanita nodded. “I’ll be in the lab” said Warrick. “Okay” said Grissom. “See you guys. Have fun” said Warrick and walked out. “Yeah thanks” said Nick. “Nick, quickly show Juanita where the lockers are so she can grab one and put her stuff in there” said Grissom. “What am I? A tour guide now?” asked Nick. “Just do it Nick, stop complaining” said Grissom. “Okay “said Nick. “I see you later on Juanita” said Grissom. “Yeah thanks, Mr Grissom” said Juanita. Grissom walked out of the break room. “You could just point me in the direction of the lockers, I’m sure I could find it” said Juanita. Nick looked at her. “No, it’s okay” said Nick. Juanita laughed. “Follow me” said Nick. Juanita picked up her bag and field kit and followed Nick down the corridor. He entered a room that had a bench as well as a row of lockers. “Co-ed locker room, so don’t go stripping in here” said Nick. Juanita laughed. “Thanks for the heads up” she said. Nick went over to one of the lockers. “This ones vacant” said Nick. Juanita looked at it. “It’ll have to do then” said Juanita and chucked her backpack in there. “So you know Sara, huh?” asked Nick. “Sara and I worked together a few times when I was in San Francisco” said Juanita. “Well welcome aboard then” said Nick. Juanita laughed. “Thanks” she said. “So you ready newbie?” asked Nick. Juanita looked at him. “Yeah” she replied. “Okay let’s hit the road” said Nick. Juanita nodded. “Just one thing Nick” said Juanita, as the two of them walked out of the locker room. “What?” asked Nick, looking at her. “Don’t call me newbie” said Juanita. Nick laughed. “You’ve got attitude” said Nick. Juanita laughed. “You don’t know the half of it” said Juanita. Nick just looked at her, somewhat confused, and the two of them went off on the case.
