To continue my review of my epic journey to watch all my films from A-z, this is the Third part.
For those that don’t know I am watching all 700+ Dvd/Bluray films from A-z which has so far taken me 2+ years to get to the end of G’s!
I thought I should retrospectively review each letter and give my top 5 films from each alpha block and maybe bring your attention to some films you may not have seen, films you’ve not seen in ages or films you should give another try.
Another letter and another bunch of classics I should own and a selection of ones I’m glad to say I don’t own.
A few to mention are Catwoman, Cannonball Run, Cape Fear, Clash of the titans, Cool running’s, City lights, Chinatown, City of God, Cheerleader Ninjas, Cool as Ice, City on Fire and Casablanca. »

Dave from Victim of the Time here, wondering why Eric Bana isn't a legitimate movie-star yet. I don't like to be an undue influence, but if I were in charge of Nat's Film Bitch awards for this year, Eric would be the current front-runner for the 'Body of Work' award. You'll all remember Star Trek, of course, where Bana played the main villain, the Romulan Nero, and put a lot of energy and zest into a role that wasn't given as much attention as it probably should have been. Since then, he's recently had two more roles that amply show off both his acting chops - in strikingly different ways - and his almost limitless charisma. (He also starred in the Australian film Romulus, My Father, but who knows when that'll reach my eyes...) In a coincidental move that surely inspired this post, I happened to see both of these »

I know industry logic indicates bad things for a movie that's been shuffled around the calendar a few times, but in this case I don't give a flying fart: I've been waiting too long for The Time Traveler's Wife to let naysayers ruin my fun. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of the book way back when, and I've had a huge crush on my fellow Canuck Rachel McAdams since I first saw her in Slings & Arrows. And I don't care what anybody says about Eric Bana, the dude made Chopper so... »

A look at the latest Judd Apatow flick with Adam Mast.
Is the third time the charm for Judd Apatow? Unfortunately, it isn't. Funny People isn't a bad movie, but it is a disappointing one. A shame especially when taking into consideration that there is a lot of great stuff in this film. Overall though, this is a tale of two movies. As a serious film about funny people it often works, but as a raunchy comedy with serious undertones, it never quite strikes up a comfortable balance. In Funny People, Adam Sandler is George Simmons, a popular stand up comic with very little to look forward to in his seemingly mundane life. Sure, he's rich and famous and can have any woman he wants, but does that make him happy? Things go from awful to worse when Simmons is diagnosed with Leukemia. Rather than rushing out and telling a family member about his condition, »

The Movie Club Podcast [1] is a monthly roundtable podcast where we select two movies to dissect, analyze and discuss with a group of fellow movie bloggers and film fans. Somewhere in our busy summer schedule we managed to find time to sit down with our friends from Row Three [2] to talk about two more movies for the latest episode of The Movie Club Podcast. This time around the choices were Oliver Stone's 1994 classic Natural Born Killers and Andrew Dominik's directorial debut Chopper starring Eric Bana. Both movies address the idea of violence in the media, while also providing plenty of on-screen violence themselves. Head over to The Movie Club Podcast website (linked below) to grab the MP3, or simply update your feed in iTunes. Don't forget to leave your own thoughts about these films on the site and cast your vote for next month's poll too. On the »

Clifton Collins Jr. talks Boondock Saints 2, Extract, directing music videos and much more
A few days ago, I mentioned on my Facebook page that I was extremely excited to be interviewing a favorite actor of mine, Clifton Collins Jr. I was also rather dismayed that there were many friendo's of mine out there who didn't know who he was, by name anyway. Some would recognize him when I mentioned he was the homosexual hitman in the critically-acclaimed film Traffic, or the crazy drug dealer in the equally-underrated The Rules Of Attraction (which is one of my favorite performances of his), some recognize him as the confused killer Perry Smith in Capote, a performance that some think is just as Oscar-worthy as Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Oscar-winning portrayal of Truman Capote. Oh yeah, and, of course, there were those who just recently saw him on the silver screen as Ayel, the »

The Movie Club Podcast [1] is a monthly roundtable podcast where we select two movies to dissect, analyze and discuss with a group of fellow movie bloggers and film fans. This was a pretty big episode of The Movie Club Podcast, but hopefully it's one that a lot of people will be interested in. This month we decided to sit down and go through all four movies in the so-called Alien Quadrilogy (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection). They are all distinctly different, and believe it or not, each one had supporters, resulting in some interesting points of view for discussion. Head over to The Movie Club Podcast website (linked below) to grab the entire 2 hour and 47 minute podcast now. Also be sure to leave your own comments over there, and cast your vote in the poll for episode #15. Next month we will be taking on a pair of serial »

Eric Bana bought "the Beast," a 1973 Ford Gt Falcon Coupe, when he was a 15-year-old growing up in the suburbs of Melbourne. And he's kept it, over 25 years that have spanned a successful stand-up and sketch comedy in Australia, an acclaimed break-out performance in 2000's "Chopper" and Hollywood stardom that's included roles under Ridley Scott ("Black Hawk Down"), Ang Lee ("Hulk") and Steven Spielberg ("Munich"). That car, the genuine relationship someone can have with an automobile and a five-day rally race held in Tasmania all factor into Bana's rather unexpected directorial debut, "Love the Beast." Part personal documentary, part automotive love story, the film follows Bana as he races the restored Beast with help from his childhood friends, interweaving the footage with meditations on the ties between man and motor car, and interviews with faces famous (Jay Leno) and not. I talked to Bana a few days before his film's »

My introduction to Eric Bana came with Ang Lee's Hulk and, on a more credible level, Steven Spielberg's Munich. Somehow I completely missed the actor's breakout role in the 2000 movie, Chopper, so I can't say I'm excited or disappointed with the news that Bana may be signing on for a second run with this character, Mark "Chopper" Read. The first movie is based on the autobiography of the real criminal "Chopper" Read, and required Bana to pack on a fair amount of extra weight for the role. Now, according to comedian Heath Franklin, who stars in a live show inspired by Chopper titled "Make Deads," there's a rumor floating around that Bana may sign on for a follow-up picture. Moviehole.net reports on the rumor with a great amount of skepticism, and you can't blame them. Just look at the source - an unrelated comedian talking to The Herald Sun. »

Comedian Heath Franklin revealed to Australia's The Herald Sun that he's heard talks of a possible "Chopper" sequel, with Eric Bana (The Hulk, Troy) returning to reprise the title role. "I've heard a rumor there's a sequel with Eric involved as well, but I don't know how much weight that rumor carries," he said. The original 2000 film was Bana's big break and tells the story of Mark "Chopper" Read, a legendary criminal who wrote his autobiography while serving a jail sentence in prison. Chopper dreams of making a name for himself as a legendary crime figure. His journey starts out as a wisecracking criminal failure, inside a maximum-security prison, but he manages to twist his life into a fascinating and wickedly funny take that the press and the public can't get enough of. Until we get confirmation, this is just a rumor. Bana will soon start promoting "The Time Traveler's Wife »

- When fleshing out the script for Bronson, Nicolas Winding Refn didn't have much to go on – the subject of the film has been in solitary confinement for the better part of his adult life and yet, the Danish filmmaker somehow managed to take a thin on plot biopic and fancy a style that uses fantasy to explore the missing pieces and the mindset of a man who finds extreme pleasure in extreme pain. Refn was on hand to present his audacious biopic imagining of the celebrity behind the bars. What is unfathomable is that the subject in question, Michael Peterson was sentenced for a petty crime and has 34 years under his belt. I had do an IMDb search to see what Tom Hardy's former shell looked like, I wasn't familiar with the actor (he bulked up for the role), but his performance should do for him for what »
