'Life UneXpected': A look at the CW's new show

The CW has announced mid-season show "Life UneXpected" will debut on Monday, Jan. 18 -- 'til then, whet your appetite on these trailers.
"Life UneXpected" should breathe a little good ol' fashioned heart into the CW's lineup of gossipy vampires in Melrose.
It's the story of a teenage foster kid who tracks down her biological parents and so far, it looks decent. We're particularly excited about Shiri Appleby ("Roswell") and Kerr Smith ("Dawson's Creek") returning to prime-time.
We think the CW has to be confident in its new fare, if it's giving both "One Tree Hill" and "Gossip Girl" time off in order to slot "Life UneXpected" into its programming.
What do you guys think? Yay or nay? Will you give it a chance? Vote below!

Life is about to get very unexpected for fans of the CW's Monday lineup
in 2010 with a daring and original new scheduling approach that will
squeeze three shows into two time slots. One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and the new drama Life Unexpected will all air Monday nights in 2010, ensuring no repeats.
The new schedule is a bit complicated, so fans may want to start marking their calendars. Starting January 18, One Tree Hill will return with new episodes at 8pm while the fantastic new series Life Unexpected (starring Dawson's Creek star Kerr Smith and Roswell's Shiri Appleby) will premiere at 9pm. That duo will run for seven weeks, and then starting March 8, Life Unexpected will move to 8pm and Gossip Girl will return at 9pm.

I watched (and enjoyed) the pilot episode for this show back in the summer (when it used to be called "Parental Discretion" and now theCW has annouced a premiere date for the rebranded Life UneXpected: January 18, 2010 (likely at 9:00 p.m.).
In an effort to air only new episodes on Monday nights, theCW will slot in Life when Gossip Girl goes on hiatus for several weeks in the new year. When Gossip Girl returns, Life will air at 8:00 p.m. while One Tree Hill goes on hiatus.

Dave Grohl will have a seemingly busy fall. Not only is his new group Them Crooked Vultures going on tour in North America, but his main group, in its downtime, is releasing its first "Greatest Hits" album. "Foo Fighters Greatest Hits," due Nov. 3 via Roswell/RCA, will feature two new Foo tracks, "Word Forward" and "Wheels," the latter of which we already revealed to you. Of course, the set also boasts tracks like "Learn to Fly," "Best of You" and "Everlong," which, believe it or not, is up for an MTV Vma. The band's latest album, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace," was

Today we have a unique collection of tidbits that range from Heroes on NBC, some HBO delving into Sci-Fi and some popular comics coming to television. I’ve also dug up some news on FX’s Damages.
Heroes’ New Cast Member
Ernie Hudson has signed onto the cast of NBC’s Heroes.
He’s joining the cast as a Baltimore detective, Captain Lubbock. What little is known about Hudson’s role is that he’ll be looking for one of the other characters in the show.
Heroes 4th season will be introducing a new mythology about a traveling carnival, whose members have special powers.
This carnival will be run by a character portrayed by Rober Knepper. Oh great, Tea-Bag running a super powered carnival. We’re definitely in trouble.

‘Warehouse 13’ debuts on Sci Fi, er, SyFy tonight

SyFy is kicking off its on-air rebranding with the debut of a series that, clearly, it has high hopes for as some sort of anchor for the network’s “new” image.
Alas that Warehouse 13 -- premering with a two-hour pilot tonight at 9pm Eastern -- feels like more of the same-old not-too-daring Sci Fi Channel stuff, at least based on the pilot, which I had the chance to preview in a rough cut (that is, with some temporary FX and music, but with all the story in place). Like Sanctuary, which Sci Fi was so proud to be heralding last fall as some sort of giant leap forward in televised fantasy adventure, W13 could have felt fresh a decade ago, even if its premise might have seemed old even then: Take that last shot from Raiders of the Lost Ark -- of the giant government storage facility filled with, presumably,

Wake-Up Video: Alien Ant Farm’s ‘Smooth Criminal’

July 7 is a big day for astronomers, conspiracy theorists and David Duchovny fans, as it’s the supposed day that flying saucers were spotted over Roswell, New Mexico in 1946. Without the Roswell incident (wherein people thought the government was covering up the fact that they found wreckage and bodies from a fallen UFO), we wouldn’t have gotten “The X-Files,” “Independence Day” or Foo Fighters.
Today also marks the Michael Jackson memorial in Los Angeles, and the best example of aliens and Mj coming together is the Alien Ant Farm cover of “Smooth Criminal.” The song was the first major hit for the band, who performed it live before the Video Music Awards in 2001. “How many of you guys like Michael Jackson?” asks frontman Dryden Mitchell. Answer: Hundreds of thousands of us.

Not only are they capable of lighting up the silver screen, they are also some of today's most talented young actresses, commanding huge fees - in some cases, in the millions. Many have won multiple awards, while others have starred in some of today's biggest box office hits. In short, we're listing down the cream of the crop!
Just like our recent Top 50 hottest young actors, we've narrowed down our list from 88 to 50, and set an age limit. If you miss seeing some of your favorites, so do we - including Maggie Gyllenhaal (31 years old) and Amy Adams (34 years old). Definitely some of the names you'll see on the list are emerging talents - the ones you will see getting the big roles in the near future - and some of them already have, with awards and nominations to boot.
Here's the updated Top 40 list! You'll definitely notice the international flavor!

1. V (ABC)
Usually we are not that much into remakes of popular movies or tv franchises, simply because it’s usually a sign of creative desperation. Just look at The CW’s overwhelmingly desperate attempts to gain glory by remaking Fox’s signature teen shows from the early 90s. In the case of ABC’s “V”-remake however, we feel surprisingly optimistic. It’s easier to re-imagine a sci-fi-concept for a new decade, because that particular genre offers more opportunities than most other genres. As Ronald D. Moore’s “Battlestar Galactica” proved successfully, you can take a dated franchise and create an entirely new world out of it, while at the same time making it contemporary by adding themes that play a huge part in our society now. The first footage we have seen of “V” makes us confident that the show will do just that and if that is

Katherine Heigl's next feature film project will be Lionsgate thriller "Five Killers". The 30-year-old actress has signed up to play a newly-married woman with potentially deadly neighbor. In the movie, she will star opposite Ashton Kutcher, who is said to portray the woman's new husband.
For this thriller, Heigl will once again team up with director Robert Luketic, who recently directed her in the upcoming romantic comedy "The Ugly Truth".
