Keira Knightley Said Beating Scarlett Johansson for Role in 'My Fair Lady'

25 October 2009 8:59 PM, PDT | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

After playing Elizabeth Swann in "Pirates of the Carribean" film series, Keira Knightley has been reported to play Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady". According to U.K.'s Telegraph, she has beaten Scarlett Johansson, who has previously been rumored competing with the British beauty for the role.

Moreover, the site reported that Keira will team up once again with director Joe Wright, with whom she worked together on "Pride and Prejudice". "Joe and Keira are looking forward to working together again immensely," a friend of the helmer said.

In 2008, Keira Knightley confirmed that she has been auditioned for the role in "My Fair Lady" and begun singing lessons. Then, in early October this year, one of the producers for the upcoming movie, Duncan Kenworthy, expressed his desire to see the 24-year-old actress being involved in the film, stating "I think Keira would be absolutely fabulous in it."

Video – FlashForward 1.04 – "Black Swan" Sneak Peeks

13 October 2009 6:49 PM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Now that FlashForward has been officially expanded to a full first season fans can focus on the mystery at hand – and this week's episode, "Black Swan", looks like it has the potential to be explosive.  The meaning behind that mysterious use of italics is just ahead.

It looks like Mark and Demitri have their hands on a particularly nasty perp.  Why could this young man be stockpiling uranium?  Is there a nuclear aspect to the event that caused the FlashForward, or does this nasty have something dirtier in mind?  All of that and two more tantalizing tidbits below – including a clip with the so-far sadly underused Zachary Knighton. Black Swan airs Thursday, October 15th at 8:00pm/est on ABC.

Some People You Might Know (And Some You Might Not) Are Receiving Awards!

Glenn here from Stale Popcorn here. Nathaniel is still sick (I know what he's got, I had it a couple of months back and it lasted weeks!) and when the going gets sick the sick get to bed. Or something. Let's move on.

I like to consider myself a fairly good follower of awards season, but there are organisations that I admit I have to plead ignorance over. The Gotham Independent Film Awards is one such example. I don't think, in the eight years (or so) that I've been following the Oscars, that I have ever actually figured out who these people are. And yet year after year they seem to throw up such a wonderful, varied and oft left-of-centre list of nominees for their annual awards. Misunderstood or just-not-loved-enough titles like Margot at the Wedding, Marie Antoinette, Frozen River, Me & You & Everyone We Know and others have had the Gotham's spotlight shined on them, »

What's up with John Edwards? If you had him on Google Alert this weekend, your e-mail inbox would have been swamped after the New York Times published a story speculating about whether the two-time Democratic presidential candidate - who has already admitted to two-timing his wife of more than 30 years, Elizabeth Edwards - is ready to admit he fathered a child with a former campaign worker. In August 2008, Edwards, after earlier denials, confirmed that he had an affair with Rielle Hunter, a videographer he met on his 2008 campaign. At the time, Edwards, now 56, denied fathering a child, saying the relationship »

'Pirates 4' Gets Title

12 September 2009 9:10 PM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Capt. Jack Sparrow will sail again!

Although reports of a fourth 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie have been circulating since last fall, it wasn’t until this past Friday that Disney officially announced that it is on their 2011 slate.

Richard Cook, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, was joined by star Johnny Depp at the Disney-centric D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center. According to Variety, Depp, dressed as Capt. Sparrow, sailed onstage aboard a pirate ship, and subsequently announced Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides would arrive in theaters in the summer of 2011.

In recent weeks, there has been plenty of speculation about the plot and cast of the new film, which is being written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. Co-star Geoffrey Rush previously expressed interest in reprising the pirate Barbossa, while Keira Knightley has stated she would not prefer to return to the character of Elizabeth Swann. »

Weinstein Prepare 'Speech' for 2010

- If finances weren't on the rebound, the Weinsteins wouldn't be making announcements like this one - especially of the rights bought before the principal photography type. Twc have picked up multiple territory rights (including their own turf) to The King's Speech. Tom Hooper (John Adams) will take the director's chair and project will include a pair of actors who, at this point in their careers, must be fed up with playing dress up. At least Brit/Aussie actors have a corner of the market covered - anything having to do with 16th to 18th.
