In its third day, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen maintained its blockbuster run, raking in an estimated $36.7 million on approximately 10,000 screens at 4,234 sites. That stands as the tenth highest-grossing Friday ever, but all movies ahead of it had Friday openings, giving the action sequel the record for biggest non-opening Friday gross. It ranks ahead of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Spider-Man 2 and The Matrix Reloaded on that front, although each of those pictures had higher attendance. Revenge of the Fallen's Friday included an estimated $2.6 million from 169 IMAX runs, and the picture has thus far made $8.9 million in the format. With a $125.9 million total in three days, Revenge of the Fallen slotted in as the fourth highest-grossing three-day opening on record, behind The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, but, again, among movies that didn't open on a Friday, it grabbed the top spot.

On Thursday, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen continued to dominate with a $28.6 million haul at 4,234 sites, lifting its total to $89.2 million in two days. It was the highest-grossing non-opening Thursday ever. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, The Matrix Reloaded and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones each had bigger Thursdays, but those were opening days. Revenge of the Fallen retreated 53 percent from Wednesday to Thursday, which was a typical drop for such a massive mid-week, non-holiday opening. It was also a smaller fall than Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which was off 58 percent at the same point. The first Transformers made a bit more on its second day, $29.1 million, but that was on an Independence Day Wednesday, and its first Thursday came in at $19.2 million for a three-and-a-half day tally of $84.9 million. Included in Revenge of the Fallen's gross was

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen shattered the Wednesday record, raking in $60.6 million on approximately 9,700 screens at 4,234 sites (including a record 169 IMAX venues) in its first day. The former Wednesday champ, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, had mustered $44.2 million in its 2007 debut. Among all opening days, the Transformers sequel ranks second behind The Dark Knight, which boasted $67.2 million in its first day on over 9,000 screens at 4,366 sites. Adjusted for ticket price inflation, though, Revenge of the Fallen would slot in fourth place, behind Spider-Man 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. The previous Transformers movie holds the record for biggest Tuesday gross. It made $27.9 million in its Tuesday opening on around 7,600 screens at 4,011 sites (not including $8.8 million from Monday night previews), followed by $29.1 million on its first Wednesday, which was its single day peak. In two and a half days, it had generated $65.7 million, which the

While I’m having a good laugh at the some of the comments in the recent debate over robot racism, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is out there smashing box office records. As expected, the Michael Bay-directed sequel opened to massive domestic numbers, earning an estimated $60.6 million on the first day in U.S. theaters.
That easily sets a new record for biggest Wednesday opening, crushing the $44.2 million posted by Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in 2007. The second Transformers ranks second in single/opening day totals under The Dark Knight’s $67.2M, but beating Spider-Man 3’s $59.8M Friday.
The midnight showings contributed $16 million, a third place finish behind only The Dark Knight ($18.5M) and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith ($16.9M).
Despite overwhelmingly negative reviews, this thing is clearly critic proof. Transformers 2 is on pace to earn between $160-$175 million through the weekend,

Michael Bay's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has exploded into its first of what will likely be several box office records. Estimates place the sequel's Wednesday box office pull at somewhere between $55 and $56 million. That easily bests the $44.2 million Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix conjured up. Transformers 2 had pulled in around $16 million from midnight shows alone ranking it third in that category. But the two films ahead of it, The Dark Knight and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, had the added luxury of their midnight screenings being held closer to the weekend. The next box office record in Paramount's eye is the five-day opener. Currently Spider-Man 2 holds that mark with $152.4 million, a number Transformers 2 is on pace to eclipse. A rash of negative critical reviews (ours included) may signal a faster decline for Transformers 2 at the box office than its predecessor.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has scored the best opening day ever for a Wednesday release, with an estimated $60.6 million domestically. The previous record-holder was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which grossed $44.2 million on a Wednesday in July 2007. The $60.6 million includes a confirmed $16 million from midnight shows, the third largest overnight numbers of all time behind only The Dark Knight ($18.5 million) and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith ($16.9 million). The film could earn anywhere between $150-$170 million by Monday morning. That number would be enough to beat Spider-Man 2's $152.4 million 5-day opening, which would put it as the fifth biggest five day opening of all time (under The Dark Knight, Revenge of the Sith, Pirates 2 and Spider-Man 3). source: Variety

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" has proven that it still becomes a highly-anticipated movie for spectators. On its Wednesday, June 24, midnight screenings, the flick earned $16 million. The number thus makes the "Transformers" sequel the third-best midnight debut ever in the box-office figure, behind "The Dark Knight" which scored $18 million for its midnight run last summer and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" which made $16.9 million on its 2005 premiere.
With the big amount made on the midnight debut, "Transformers 2" is predicted to be able to pull around 150 million U.S. dollars over its first five days on the theaters. Some box-office watchers also assume that it could make another 100 million U.S. dollars for the weekend alone.
Meanwhile, U.S. leading movie ticketing destination Fandago claimed that on June 23 it has sold more than 2,000 tickets for the "Transformers 2" midnight and late night/early morning shows nationwide.

The Transformers sequel has become a surefire success at the box office a day before the film is released in the U.S. - it's already among the top 25 pre-sellers of all time.
Top cinema booking site MovieTickets.com reports more than 600 performances of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen have already sold out, including 274 midnight showings.
The film, starring Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox, currently accounts for 93 per cent of ticket sales at the website, and has bumped the original 2007 Transformers from the top 25 list.
MovieTickets.com executive vice president Joel Cohen tells WENN, "So much for being robots in disguise Transformers 2 is sure to be one of our highest grossing and most visible openers in 2009."
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King top the list of pre-sellers, ahead of The Dark Knight, Twilight and Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert.
All the Harry Potter and Lord of The Rings films make the top 25 list, as do the two Pirates of the Caribbean sequels, Spider-Man 3 and Hight School Musical 3: Senior Year.

Rival movie studios are claiming that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is tracking to open huge at the box office. According to Nikki Finke's sources, the movie might open with a high $175 million 5-day opening when the big giant robots are unleashed on Wednesday June 24th. If this number turns out to be true, it could be the second biggest 5-day opening of all time. Which film claims the 5-Day record? Answer after the jump. The Dark Knight claims the #1 spot with $203.7 million. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith holds the #2 record with $172.8 million, with a mid-May 2005 release. The first Transformers opened on a Monday night, and made $133.2 in its first five days of release (which due to the strange release date, doesn't include a $22.1 million Sunday) Paramount will likely deny reports of high-level tracking to better manage expectations. Opening weekend ...

I don't know how many of you have ever been exposed to the wonder of Asian DVD pirates and their outstanding subtitle work, but if you have never then you are missing out on one of the real glories in life. There is nothing, Nothing better than seeing those guys try to subtitle Jack Sparrow. But as you can see Below, they do pretty well with Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith. Check out the rest of the movie!

There's been a lot of digital ink posted about how this Memorial Day weekend marks the tenth anniversary of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace ...or as Drew McWeeny so eloquently put it, the day fandom lost its way. So many have already said it so well that it feels cheap to join the conversation with my own memories of disappointment.
Instead, I thought it would be fun to discuss the good times you had at the movies in all the Memorial Days gone by. Box Office Mojo has a list of the major Memorial Day movies beginning with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989, and Cinematical's ongoing Our Favorite Summers series should help jog your movie memories. Some of the ones listed are probably films you've long forgotten (Enough? Really, 2002?) or disassociated with the blockbuster season such as Braveheart or Insomnia.
My own personal favorite has to be Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

What are you doing this weekend? Actually, don’t answer that. I’ll tell you what you’re doing this weekend. As a Memorial Day weekend treat and lead-in to this Sunday’s episode of ‘Behind the Screen,’ MTV will be running all six “Star Wars” movies between Saturday and Monday. If you’ve seen George Lucas’s epic space fantasy, then you know exactly why you should be tuning in. If you don’t… well… here are all the reasons you need to settle in with some popcorn for a long, lazy weekend in front of the TV.
The Fall of Anakin Skywalker
Hardcore “Star Wars” fans like me have some issues with George Lucas’s approach to the most recent trilogy, starting with 1999’s “The Phantom Menace.” Wherever your opinions fall with regards to the new movies, it’s hard to say a foul word against Anakin Skywalker

Fans of the gleefully excessive Jason Statham action film "Crank" know that it concluded with an impressively ballsy ending: Statham's Chev Chelios gets his revenge but -- Spoiler Alert! -- falls out of a helicopter in the process. In "Crank"'s final shot, he falls into a car, bounces on to the pavement, twitches and... dies.
It was certainly a surprise -- a pleasant surprise, but a surprise nonetheless -- when the IFC.com staff first got word of a sequel, this week's "Crank: High Voltage." Statham was pretty clearly not alive at the end of that first movie, but, as the sequel's poster puts it: "He Was Dead... But He Got Better."
Chelios is not the first. Hollywood has a long history of bringing back popular dead characters in sequels. Here's a look at five commonly used techniques:
"He's My Twin!"

Prequels are nothing new in the world of Hollywood. However, they've always had mixed results. Few can deny that the most popular prequel has to be from the Star Wars universe. We all watched with glued eyes as Anakin Skywalker went from an innocent kid in Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace to the dramatic transformation into Darth Vader in Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith. There have been others. Hannibal Rising, Batman Begins, Carlito's Way: Rise to Power; the list goes on. So when it was announced that Underworld was going to have its own prequel, well, I was a bit intrigued, but not overly-excited. After seeing Underworld: Evolution, I simply lost all interest. The first movie was great; the second, absolutely terrible. So how did the third installment in the franchise, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, stand up

Despite making a cameo appearance as Nick Fury at the end of "Iron Man", Samuel L. Jackson may no longer be seen as the S.H.I.E.L.D. director in the future installments of Marvel's superhero films. Breaking out the speculation was Jackson himself when talking to Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times blog, Hero Complex.
Suggesting that he probably won't tackle the part in "Iron Man 2", "The First Avenger: Captain America" and "The Avengers", the 60-year-old pointed out that there has been a negotiation break-down. "There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down," he stated. "I don't know. Maybe I won't be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won't be in it."
The actor who starred as Jedi Master Mace Windu in "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" further explained, "There seems to
