Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot
Original Air Date: 21 September 1993 A group of detectives and officers work at the 15th Precinct, a seedy police station in Manhattan, New York City. Detective John Kelly, a 15-year veteran of the force, deals with his partner Andy Sipowitz, an alcoholic 20-year veteran detective. Laura Hughes, an aspiring lawyer and Detective Kelly's wife, is having problems with their marriage and she hires Josh Goldstein, a lawyer who lives in apartment 4B of their building to work on a divorce, who gets mugged in the laundry room of the building. Meanwhile, Sipowicz is relentlessly pursuing mobster Alfonse Giardella, who threatens Sipowicz to leave him alone. Later, Sipowicz is shot by Giardella during a tryst with a prostitute. Enraged, Kelly orders the precinct officers to hound Giardella and his ruthless employer; mafia kingpin Angelo Marino. The new patrol officer, Janice Licalsi, is attracted to Detective Kelly. But is she is revealed to be an informant for Marino who orders her to murder Kelly.
Original Air Date: 28 September 1993 Inspector Lastarza of the Organized Crime Unit tells Lt. Fancy and Kelly that they stop applying pressure to the local mob for their pursuit of Angelo Marino is hurting the FBI investigation to nail Marino. Meanwhile, Sipowicz regains consciousness in the hospital after the shooting, but he has no memory about the attempt on his life because he was drunk at the time. Laura and John Kelly become officially separated and she decides to join a private law firm. Josh "4B" Goldstein becomes more paranoid about his mugging and brings a gun into the laundry room every night in hopes to catch his attacker. Kelly tries to reason with a deranged man who has taken a judge hostage who let his son's killer free. Elsewhere, Angelo Marino puts more pressure on Janice to murder Kelly, but she kills him and his chauffeur/bodyguard instead and slips away.
Original Air Date: 5 October 1993 Janice's policeman father arrives for a visit and tells her about his pending indictment for corruption involving being an informant for Angelo Marino when a book that Marino had on him as a list of all of his informants... including hers. Sipowicz makes some appearances at the hotel where Giardella is staying to further intimidate him over the shooting death of Marino. Meanwhile, Kelly and Martinez are assigned a case involving the robbery and murder of a woman. Also, Josh Goldstein comes to the precinct in search for his gun he used to kill his assailant.
Original Air Date: 12 October 1993 Kelly begins moonlighting as a security guard for a wealthy woman who's married to an abusive husband, but things take a turn when the husband is shot and killed. Meanwhile, a man is arrested for a robbery and double-murder when fellow Detective Walker thinks he's guilty, but Sipowicz thinks differently. Laura quits her job and plans to move into a position with the District Attorney's office, prosecuting narcotics. The increasingly edgy Josh Goldstein has Kelly appear at a tenant's readiness group regarding crime, and he is later killed trying to save and elderly woman from a mugging on a subway platform.
Original Air Date: 19 October 1993 Martinez goes to visit his brother, but finds the superintendent of his building, Hanlan, is a undercover cop who is on the take and is forcing the tenants out and Kelly sets out to prove that Hanlan is responsible for the death of two of the apartment residents. Meanwhile, Laura's new job as an Assistant District Attorney takes a turn when she's assigned to a case that involves Giardella. Also, Kelly and Sipowitz deal with the prankster Detective Stillwell, whose jokes and pranks against the station becomes a nuisance for everyone as well.
Original Air Date: 26 October 1993 A minor skirmish on a basketball court leaves one of Kelly's friends dead and the other one in jail for manslaughter. Meanwhile, Sipowicz is convinced that a man knows more about his wife's death in a highway shooting than he is letting on. Laura feels as though she's being dangled in front of Giardella when Sylvia tells her to push on him harder. Janice saves Kelly's life during a drug raid and the event seems to bring them back together.
Season 1, Episode 7: NYPD Lou
Original Air Date: 2 November 1993 A shady man named Lou, comes to the station thinking he's a werewolf and demands to be locked up into a cell before he kills someone when the night comes. Meanwhile, Sipowicz is visited by his long-estranged son, Andy Sipowicz, Jr. with his fiancée, Lois Snyder, an older woman who Sipowicz discovers that she has been cheating on Andy Jr. Kelly investigates a homeless man who is suspected in the death of a nine-year-old boy. Giardella is killed before he can testify to a grand jury against his superiors and Laura finds herself the only witness to the murder.
Original Air Date: 16 November 1993 Kelly arrests a baker for a murder charge, but tries to get him to confess to the robbery of four taxicabs so they can link him to the murder. Meanwhile, Sipowicz arrests a topless dancer for prostitution and she offers to help him get the owner of the bar who's laundering money for the mob. Laura questions Sylvia's ethics who tries to protect her personal reputation and Sipowicz's verbal attacks on her. The squad welcomes the new administrative aide, a beautiful blond woman named Donna Abandando whom the neurotic Detective Medavoy finds irresistible.
Original Air Date: 30 November 1993 Janice is asked by a mob button man to start doing favors for them again or they will expose her and her father's past activities with them. Meanwhile, Martinez's father wants to kill the pusher who's responsible for his son's overdose. Also, Meadavoy celebrates his 40th birthday and later goes out on a date with Donna to an ice skating rink.
Original Air Date: 7 December 1993 Kelly, Medavoy and Martinez investigate the brutal murder of a entire upper class family. Meanwhile, Inspector Lastarza orders Janice to cooperate with the mob even though it results in the death of the person whose license plates she ran through the computer, and Kelly deals with his relationship with her who tries to keep him out of the situation she's in. Also, Sipowicz takes a statement of a gay writer whose Academy Award was stolen.
Original Air Date: 14 December 1993 The zone commander, Haverill, starts to come down on Lt. Fancy about his work skills and Sipowicz later intervenes and threatens Haverill to lay off Fancy or he will reveal some incriminating evidence about him being a racist. Meanwhile, Kelly and Sipowicz investigate the kidnapping of a doctor's daughter. Janice must pass some more information to the mob about the station's moves and wonders how she will get out of his situation. Martinez and Medavoy question a woman and her young son who claims to have been robbed by a man who picked them up while they were hitchhiking in North Carolina.
Original Air Date: 4 January 1994 The mob hit man who killed Giardella and who Laura can identify, is trapped on the roof of the building with a hostage. Martinez works on his first detectives case, which involves a fake ATM machine taking peoples money. Meanwhile, Fancy and his wife prepare to face a court date when a foster child they've been caring for is ordered back into custody of the real mother who's just been released from a drug rehab program. Sipowicz and Kelly investigate a mob shooting which turns up a notebook that Marino kept that has Janice and her father's name in it.
Original Air Date: 11 January 1994 Medavoy leaves his wife and finally tells Donna about his feelings for her, which turn out to be mutual. Sharon LaSalle, a police academy classmate of Kelly's, joins the squad and shortly after, she and Sipowicz investigate the death of her husband who was an ex-cop trying to stop a robbery on her first day at the 15th precinct. Meanwhile, an alcoholic woman keeps lodging complaints to Kelly against her abusive husband that she never follows through with.
Original Air Date: 18 January 1994 Sipowicz has a cavity and decides to have it taken care of by his son's dentist. At the dental office, Sipowitz finds himself unsuccessfully trying to prevent the suicidal Dr. Fleishman from jumping off a 28th floor ledge. Meanwhile, Medavoy and Martinez work on a strangulation murder case that appears to be the work of a cross-dresser. LaSalle's first case for the squad involves a woman who was raped and she, Kelly, Sipowicz, Janice, and her new hot-headed partner, Roy Larson, try to catch the most probable suspect. While on the case, Sipowicz suspects that Larson's short temper and odd behavior points to a drug problem. Also, Lois tries to reconcile her relationship with Andy Jr.
Original Air Date: 8 February 1994 LaSalle insists to a reluctant Larson that he take a drug test and when it comes back positive of steroid use, he is fired. One of Detective Mike Roberts' girlfriends comes to the precinct and causes trouble for him, especially when she later turns up dead. Meanwhile, Sylvia has trouble getting through to Sipowicz to give their relationship another try. Laura appeals to Kelly to help her re-examine the alleged murder of the abusive man by his wife.
Original Air Date: 15 February 1994 Medavoy suffers a stress-related anxiety attack while working and doesn't want to tell his wife about his problems, which displeases Donna. Meanwhile, Sipowicz looks into the robbery of a wheelchair-bound Vietnam veteran, who later takes his muggers hostage. Kelly starts moonlighting as a bodyguard for his ailing rich friend's girlfriend, Robin Wirkus, and later becomes involved in a complex blackmail plot by an extortionist who asks Robin for sexual favors.
Original Air Date: 1 March 1994 LaSalle has a chance to move out of the precinct and into a more regular routine of detective work. Meanwhile, Sipowicz suspects a private investigator of bilking a father for the past six moths in a scheme to find the man's runaway daughter. Kelly investigates the shooting of the 13-year-old boy and the murdered boy's father apprehends the killer after discovers the killer (who injured LaSalle) has escaped from the precinct.
Original Air Date: 22 March 1994 Mike Roberts meets with Kelly in search of getting some bodyguard and/or P.I. work for himself after quitting the police force. Meanwhile, Laura feels someone is stalking her and gets Kelly to meet her new boyfriend who may be the stalker. Sipowitz deals with a woman whose boyfriend was a material witness and is afraid to identify the hit man because he's afraid the hit man's friends will kill him next. None of the detectives are too excited when Haverill sends them down to Times Square for uniform detail at a parade.
Original Air Date: 29 March 1994 After Robin's husband dies, she is angry when his will seems to stipulate that Kelly should resume his duties as her bodyguard. Meanwhile, Sipowicz must clear his own son of a drug pushing charge. Medavoy, Martinez and Kelly find the body of a dead man in a garbage dump which leads to Kelly suspecting a concierge and the hotelier of conspiring to murder the hotelier's husband.
Original Air Date: 3 May 1994 Janice is promoted from patrolwoman to detective and will be working with the other detectives until she can be transferred to the re-organizing intelligence division. Meanwhile, Kelly suspects that his friend is being framed for the murder of his mistress, even after his erratic behavior in the squad room points to his guilt. Fancy's wife tells him that she's pregnant again and he is less enthusiastic considering the complications of her two previous pregnancies. Also, Sipowicz falls off the wagon when he starts drinking again at a birthday party for Sylvia's father.
Original Air Date: 10 May 1994 Medavoy tells Donna that he's caught his wife being unfaithful yet again and decides to move out. But he crashes at the station since he cannot afford a place to live. So, Donna asks him to move in with her. Meanwhile, racial hostilities flare up in the community after Martinez shoots a belligerent black motorist who draws a gun on Medavoy, but the gun goes missing. Janice becomes more and more distressed by the recent events and after talking to Kelly's preacher friend, Father Downey, she confesses to Fancy that she was the one that killed Angelo Marino and his chauffeur. Also, Sipowicz tries to attend an open AA meeting with Sylvia's support.
Original Air Date: 17 May 1994 Kelly gets an ultra-high priced mob attorney to defend Janice on the murder charges and helps out with her bail. Meanwhile, Sipowicz tries to make amends with Sylvia who's been attending Alanon meetings. While helping with Andy Jr. look for a new car, Sipowicz comes across a lead in a disappearance case that has frustrated him for the last two in-a-half years. Also, Kelly investigates the murder of a priest and later meets with Robin for a lunch date and spends the night with her.
Original Air Date: 11 October 1994 Janice's murder trial begins, where Kelly risks the consequences when he testifies on Janice's behalf about their brief affair which results in the Internal Affairs Bureau investigating him. Meanwhile, Sipowicz works with an abused woman who's reluctant to testify against her husband. Medavoy, Martinez, Sipowicz and Kelly investigate robberies of drug dealers in their apartments. Sipowicz's AA sponsor wants him to agree to abide by a contract before he lets him try to restart his relationship with Sylvia. Donna tries to give Medavoy advice about dealing with his divorce. Also, Robin leaves Kelly for good when he tells her that he still has feelings for Janice.
Original Air Date: 18 October 1994 Internal Affairs begins to investigate Kelly and Sipowicz's arresting of the officers they caught robbing drug dealer's apartments, then they begin looking into Kelly's handling of the notebook that was part of Medavoy's case. Janice's murder trial continues where she takes the witness stand to give an emotional testimony about her reluctant involvement with the mob and is sent to prison with a two-year sentence. Meanwhile, Kelly and Sipowicz investigate a double murder.
Season 2, Episode 3: Cop Suey
Original Air Date: 25 October 1994 Kelly works with a Chinese detective in the investigation of the murder of an off-duty cop in Chinatown. Lt. Fancy catches Donna and Madavoy in an embrace and warns both of them about relationships in the workplace. The abused woman Sipowicz helped out turns up dead and her husband is a suspect. Meanwhile, a tough new female detective, Adrianne Lesniak, transfers into the squad because of a relationship she had with an officer at her former precinct in the Bronx and begins to work with Sipowicz on his case.
Original Air Date: 1 November 1994 Martinez investigates a baby that was killed in a car from an apparent drive-by shooting. Meanwhile, Lois contacts Sipowicz for help because a policeman that she was entertaining died in a compromising position and he moves the body to a less conspicuous location. Lesniak's ex-boyfriend, Officer Abruzzo, keeps showing up at the precinct and harassing her. Kelly's future with the department is decided when Internal Affairs comes to the precinct to re-investigate some of his old cases and the result is Haverill transferring Kelly to borough dispatch duty. But Kelly decides to quit the force and after saying goodbye to Sipowitz, he throws in his badge for good.
Original Air Date: 15 November 1994 Bobby Simone, a widower and homing pigeon breeder, joins the squad as Kelly's replacement. Simone's first assignment is to help Sipowicz in the investigation of the hit on a mobster's son, where a stray bullet also hit an elderly woman in her apartment. Meanwhile, Lesniak tries to help a woman who's worried that her husband is molesting their daughter, and an over-the-edge Abruzzo pulls his gun and threatens Lesniak in the squad room for leaving him.
Original Air Date: 22 November 1994 Simone and Sipowicz suspect a chiropractor of murdering his wife. A woman whom Simone knows, finds her 11-year-old son in possession of a gun. Meanwhile, Medavoy changes to a high-fiber diet a part of yet another change in his life. While moonlighting as a security guard for Mike Roberts, Martinez becomes attracted to Judith, a college student he's been assigned to protect and she's worried about her possessive father.
Original Air Date: 29 November 1994 Donna's younger sister, Dana, arrives and moves in with her and Medavoy, who tries to make the moves onto him. Simone doubts the confession of his friend's 11-year-old son, a murder suspect in a gang related shooting at a school. Meanwhile, an HIV-infected Lothario comes to the station and asks Lesniak and Martinez for help when he appears to be targeted by a woman he's apparently infected.
Original Air Date: 6 December 1994 Sipowicz's AA sponsor, Danny Breen, is beaten up by his estranged son. Meanwhile, Simone and Sipowicz investigate the murder of a pregnant woman whose charred body leaves few clues. Martinez and Medavoy check out the story of a man who might have information about a pawn shop robbery.
Original Air Date: 3 January 1995 Simone and Sipowicz investigate the murder of a gay bar owner during the Christmas holidays. Meanwhile, Fancy's wife goes into labor to have her baby. Breen breaks his promise to Sipowicz by checking up on his son and decides to go back to him, which turns out to be fatal when Breen's son kills him and Sipowicz has to arrest him.
Original Air Date: 10 January 1995 Lesniak deals with a perpetrator and his "high priced lawyer and shrink" when he repeats the offense. Meanwhile, Detective Solomon uses a fast pull to take a possible serial killer case away from Simone after he brings in a possible suspect. One of Fancy's old contacts, Vinnie Greco, brings in a tip about a couple of guys looking for some heavy arms to do an armored car job and Sipowicz works with him, but Greco is working for someone else against Fancy. Sipowicz invites Andy Jr. over at his place for dinner where his son tells him that he is joining the Air Force. Also, Sipowicz proposes marriage to Sylvia and this time, she accepts.
Original Air Date: 17 January 1995 After discovering a key piece of evidence, Simone gets his chance to question the serial killer suspect. Meanwhile, Sipowicz, Medavoy and others work on how to stop the armored car robbery and Fancy plays a tape for Haverill about his true attitude which results in his resignation as the zone commander. Martinez and Lesniak arrest an odd extortionist, while romantic feelings for each other begin to appear.
Original Air Date: 7 February 1995 Simone and Sipowicz investigate the brutal murder of the teenage daughter of a woman whose ex-husband has made threats against her. Meanwhile, Lesniak and Martinez's latest case involves a con artist who sells a black box to homely women, promising them beautiful skin. The new zone commander, Captain Clifford Bass, checks in and lets Fancy know his overtime policy, which doesn't sit well with Sipowicz when it compounds their investigation. Also, Simone deals with a childhood friend who is now involved with a nightclub that is frequented by wise guys.
Original Air Date: 14 February 1995 Sipowicz disagrees with Sylvia over their wedding arrangements, for he wants to travel to Maryland for a quick one, whereas Sylvia wants a traditional Greek Orthodox service. Shortly thereafter, Simone and Sipowicz investigate an execution-style murder of three people at a fast food restaurant and the investigation leads them to travel upstate to look for a possible suspect. Meanwhile, Lesniak meets an old high school boyfriend of hers, now a doctor, while investigating a rape case with Martinez, who develops a case of jealousy.
Original Air Date: 21 February 1995 Sipowicz investigates the murder of a pimp in which evidence points to a cop that Sipowicz once helped out with a problem of his. Simone mentions the case to his girlfriend reporter, and regrets it when the story hits the papers. Meanwhile, Donna's former boyfriend, Harold, a ex-New York Ranger, returns to the city and meets with Donna and Meadvoy overreacts with jealousy. Martinez begins to develop feelings for Lesniak.
Season 2, Episode 15: Bombs Away
Original Air Date: 28 February 1995 Simone and Sipowicz collide in their squad car with a Romanian immigrant who has a woman locked in the trunk of his car and later, their investigation shows him to be a possible terrorist. Meanwhile, the serial killer, Webster, is shot by his last victim's father and Simone begins to investigate the father and another member of a victim's support group, who all appear to be part of a secret vigilante group. Medavoy talks to Dana about his relationship with Donna if he's losing interest in her, but the crafty Dana takes advantage of the situation to try to break them up. Also, Martinez keeps asking Lesniak to go out on a date with him.
Original Air Date: 14 March 1995 Simone and Sipowicz investigate the murder of a Puerto Rican teenager who was murdered while spray painting graffiti in Little Italy. Meanwhile, Medavoy meets with Donna's former lover, Harold, while she makes a tough decision about her relationship with him. Also, Sylvia is mugged and she later tells Sipowicz a secret from her past about being raped as a teen.
Original Air Date: 21 March 1995 Simone's emotionally fragile witness for a double-murder keeps changing her story, for she is really only interested in him. Meanwhile, Sipowicz participates in the investigation where a family run business, that he used to work in, is held up and the owner's wife is killed. After Donna leaves town for a long vacation (and to get away from Medavoy), her temporary replacement, John Irvin, is gay may who makes the station, including Sipowitz, uncomfortable. Also, Martinez enters in a department boxing tournament.
Season 2, Episode 18: Innuendo
Original Air Date: 4 April 1995 Simone and Sipowicz search for a killer following a shooting spree, which left several people dead and where a rookie cop's missed shot also killed a bystander. Meanwhile, Fancy's younger brother, Reginald, a policeman in the 8th precinct, has racial troubles with his commanding officer and Fancy intercedes on his behalf and his own boss, Captain Bass, covers for him. Sipowicz sees a doctor and discovers he has an enlarged prostate and Sylvia mistakenly thinks their lack of sexual activity over the past few weeks was because of the rape incident from her past that she told him about.
Original Air Date: 2 May 1995 Fancy works with Martinez to help him get ready for the boxing tournament. Meanwhile, Simone is attracted to the new undercover cop, Diane Russell, who is working with him on a arson sting. A woman that Sipowicz gets to testify in a case is murdered by the men she was going to testify against.
Original Air Date: 9 May 1995 Simone and Sipowicz search for a killer of a bookie. Meanwhile, Donna returns from her long vacation trip to resume her position at the station and her temp, John Irvin, gives everyone farewell greeting cards when he is moved to the anti-crime lab. Simone's witness tries to kill him when he won't give her what she wants. Sipowicz and Sylvia meet with the priest to help with their wedding and later she hears a story about what has contributed to Sipowicz's loss of faith.
Original Air Date: 16 May 1995 A witness to a crime smells alcohol on Russell's breath and uses it against her, and Sipowicz smells the same. Simone then confronts Russell about her drinking, but she tells him to mind his own business. John Irwin comes to Fancy for help when he and his gay lover are beaten up by gay-bashing officers in another precinct. Meanwhile, a terminally ill infant helps the detectives locate a serial rapist. Medavoy meets with his ex-wife who tells him that they should get back together for their kids and when Donna finds out, she tells him that their relationship is over.
Original Air Date: 23 May 1995 Pre-wedding jitters put Sipowicz in a rare form of panic. Meanwhile, Russell's drinking problem makes her miss getting a gun off a suspect and she finally admits to Simone about her alcoholism. Fancy's brother, Reginald, is still having problems with his racist sergeant and his belligerent attitude has resulted in him being investigated by Internal Affairs. So Fancy, Simone and the squad work to help clear Reginald of any misconduct. Martinez finally goes out on a date with Lesniak and asks her to be his date for the wedding. At the ceremony, Simone is Sipowicz's best man, Sylvia's father escorts her down the aisle and even Andy Jr. makes it just in time for the ceremony. Medavoy brings his ex-wife to the wedding while a lonely and jealous Donna painfully watches from afar.
Season 3, Episode 1: E.R.
Original Air Date: 24 October 1995 Martinez is shot in the back during a scuffle and the doctor's report is possible that he may be paralyzed for life. But Martinez's assailant, a government witness in a relocation program, will probably go free and Simone contacts Benita Alden in the D.A.'s office to help put pressure on the D.A. to prosecute their protected witness. Meanwhile, Russell, on the road to recovery from her alcoholism, wants Sipowicz to let Simone know she's doing okay, but she is on the brink of falling off the wagon. Donna expresses to Simone that she has feelings for him, and Sylvia tells Sipowicz that she may be pregnant.
Original Air Date: 31 October 1995 Medavoy and Sipowicz go undercover as Hasidic Jews to recover a stolen Torah. Meanwhile, Simone gets a case where a father suspects his retarded son of killing his daughter. Detective Stuart Morrissey tactics with the suspect does not sit well with Lt. Fancy, despite the facts that the case match the one Simone are working on. Also, Sylvia visits a doctor who confirms that she's pregnant, and Lesniak keeps checking up on Martinez still in the hospital.
Original Air Date: 7 November 1995 Meadavoy and Lesniak pair up to identify who's launched a series of vicious attacks on a man. Meanwhile, Simone tries to locate a possible suspect in a series of rapes. Russell tries to maintain her sobriety and it's strongly tested when her parents domestic problems get out of hand. Also, Martinez finally gets out of the hospital and returns to duty. But in a final surprising twist, Lesniak tells Martinez that she likes him as friend only... because she happens to be gay.
Original Air Date: 14 November 1995 Lesniak's preference of her lesbianism quickly gets around the precinct, which gives her mixed reactions. Meanwhile, Sipowicz clashes with Simone throughout their investigation of the senseless murder of two kids, which is only the start of a really bad day which also includes Sipowicz dealing with Sylvia's morning sickness, and Simone dealing with Russell who falls off the wagon.
Original Air Date: 21 November 1995 Fancy is less than enthused when Ronnie Drucker, a detective under surveillance by Internal Affairs, is assigned to the squad and Simone is asked to keep an eye on him. They then work on a case where an elderly man has been accused of exposing himself. The murder of a pimp in a Laundromat is witnessed by a young woman who helped the detectives out on a previous case. Meanwhile, John Irvin asks Sipowicz if he should approach Lesniak to congratulate her on "coming out." But she won't listen to his gay pride talk as does everyone else.
Original Air Date: 28 November 1995 An Indian woman is found dead in a car and Sipowicz is full of theories about who killed her and why. While Donna is away at a computer camp taking courses for the week, her temp is a feisty woman with a bad attitude who clashes with Sipowicz. Meanwhile, Martinez and Medavoy are nearby when a drug crazed man tries to rob a couple of stores of credit card slips. Russell and Lesniak work on another case involving a man who was left to die of a drug overdose that leads to a chance of mending the feud between them.
Season 3, Episode 7: Aging Bull

Sipowicz does not want to accompany Sylvia to her latest doctor's visit and Martinez gets an opportunity to find out where Lesniak really stands on her sexuality if she's really gay.

Meanwhile, Medavoy pulls double shifts for himself (to get away from problems at home) and is assigned to watch an informant who has a penchant for playing poker with his friends.

Meanwhile, Martinez is helping out a former porno actress who is getting harassing phone calls, but Lesniak is not comfortable with the situation. Andy Jr. arrives in town with some news for Sipowicz, but he can't find the time to tell his father and finally at dinner, he explains that he has just been discharged from the Air Force and is joining the police department in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Season 3, Episode 16: Girl Talk
Original Air Date: 19 March 1996 A detective from another precinct, Martina Escobar, joins Simone and Sipowicz with their investigation of a rapist/murderer who is throwing small children from the tops of buildings. Meanwhile, Martinez and Russell investigate an alleged case of date rape, but the women of the squad and Sylvia have a major disagreement with Martinez's decisions regarding the suspect. Elsewhere, Sipowicz shows his son the ropes of being a cop.
Original Air Date: 26 March 1996 Simone makes contact with Ferdinand Hollie, an old informant, who wants to help him capture the drug dealers who killed a young girl with their crossfire. Meanwhile, Russell is paired up with Sgt. Ray Kahlins, a "blow hard" from the federal anti-drug unit, who's more interested in collecting overtime pay than catching drug dealers.

Fancy is forced to sent him home after Sipowicz walks in one morning drunk. Sipowicz even fights with some street punks, gets beaten up, and Simone offers to look for the men that beat Sipowicz up. Meanwhile, a new administrative assistant, named Lucy, arrives as Donna's replacement.
Original Air Date: 21 May 1996 Sipowicz meets with a priest to talk about his troubles and finally sees the light. Meanwhile, Medavoy works on finding a new place to live while he, Martinez and Lesniak work on a drug related double murder. John Irvin passes out farewell notices to the employees for he is moving back to the 1st Precinct uptown. Simone and Russell plan a trip to the beach and Medavoy meets Anne McGuire, a new detective while working on his case. Elsewhere, Lucy isn't working out with her job, and baby Theo gets baptized.
Season 4, Episode 1: Moby Greg
Original Air Date: 15 October 1996 Medavoy decides to go on a diet and has a hard time getting started on it. Meanwhile, Sipowicz has problems with his work, his baby son becoming ill and Sylvia deciding to return to work at the D.A.'s office. Simone proposes marriage to Russell, but she is hesitant to give him an answer. Geri Turner, the new administrative aide for the anti-crime unit unit, arrives at the precinct and shows a strong interest in Sipowicz, while Martinez has eyes for her. A body in a trunk of a car is inadvertently moved from the nearby 13th precinct into the 15th's jurisdiction. Simone inherits an apartment building from a recently deceased woman and the woman's son, Henry, is upset at the situation. Also, Lesniak transfers away from the squad to another precinct thus leaving the 15th for good.
Season 4, Episode 2: Thick Stu
Original Air Date: 22 October 1996 Medavoy starts a bet with Sipowicz to see who can lose the most weight in a single month. Afterwards, Sipowicz and Simone help out Detective Stuart Morrissey on his investigation in the case of a missing baby. Meanwhile, Martinez campaigns to become the elected delegate for the squad and his opponent, Detective Vince Gotelli, is determined to win the seat himself. Also, Simone makes a deal with Henry to let him share ownership of the building.
Original Air Date: 29 October 1996 An ex-con that Sipowicz put away a year ago approaches him and tells him about a prisoner who's been serving time for a crime he didn't commit and he and Simone decide to reopen the case. Meanwhile, Martinez wins the election by just three votes, much to Gotelli's chagrin. Simone comes across Detective Nick Savino who helps him with the investigation of the murder in his building and Savino suspects Henry has something to do with it. Fancy gets a cavity filling which makes him more edgy than usual and Medavoy loses one pound more than Sipowicz. Also, Russell still has not come to any conclusion about her relationship with Simone.
Original Air Date: 12 November 1996 A community activist named Kwasi, with whom Sipowicz had a previous run-in that involved racial insults, is found murdered; Simone and Sipowicz investigate, and Sipowicz rekindles Fancy's anger over the previous incident. Russell begins a new undercover job that involves her getting into a relationship with alleged drug dealer, Jimmy Liery, that might require her to start drinking again. Geri continues to try to win Sipowicz's affections and Medavoy for once feels good about himself after his diet. Also, Martinez asks his secretary, Gina Colon, out on a date.

Meanwhile, a new detective, named Jill Kirkendall, joins the squad and her first case involves a man whose life is being threatened. Medavoy and Martinez investigate the murder of young runaway boy, and an artist wants to get his paintings returned from some mob guys that he is a witness against.
Original Air Date: 14 January 1997 Simone and Sipowicz investigate a story that a diamond dealer and his partner report that one of the dealer's sisters is missing with a bag of diamonds worth a million dollars, but the sister's boyfriend is actually responsible. Meanwhile, Martinez, Medavoy and Russell look for the assailant of Gina who badly slashed her face up while she was on her way to work, and Martinez cannot cope with this sudden turn of events. Simone and Kirkendall go out on their first date, while Russell cannot cope with the fact of being alone again.

Meanwhile, Geri reports to Sipowicz about finding a friend of hers who has hung himself and Fancy suggests that Russell and Kirkendall conduct the investigation, which reveals the man died from kinky sex, with Geri. Martinez stays close to Gina while she is recovering and preparing to get her stitches from her horribly scared face removed and offers him to let her stay the night with him.
Original Air Date: 11 February 1997 Simone and Sipowicz investigate the murder of a woman whose body was found naked in the trunk of a car in a junk yard. Meanwhile, Martinez and Medavoy investigate a man who was found dead with a severe blow to his head with a typewriter. Simone hires Henry to take care of a painting job in the tenement building, where Henry comes in complaining about a difficult tenant. Season 4, Episode 19: Bad Rap
Original Air Date: 29 April 1997 Simone and Sipowicz gets another case involving the shooting of a rap artist who refuses to cooperate with them in the identification of his assailant from a rival gang. Meanwhile, Abby tells Medavoy that she and Kathy are trying to start a family and asks him to donate his sperm to her so Abby will get pregnant. Officer Szymanski, the racist cop who pulled over Fancy, tells him that he thinks Fancy was one of the ones responsible for his being set-up and caught in the alleged theft of a drug dealer's money. Also, Simone is approached and propositioned by FBI agents to help them with their ongoing investigation into the affairs of mobster Joey Salvo.
Original Air Date: 6 May 1997 Five Ecuadorians are found murdered in an apparent drug deal gone bad and Sipowicz, Simone and Martinez work on the case to find a tip from a waiter at the club there were hanging out in. Meanwhile, Simone begins his undercover work for the FBI when he secretly meets with Joey Salvo who wants Simone to do collect money from a deadbeat client of his. Also, Russell and Medavoy are looking into a suspect in a spouse abuse case where Medavoy's commitment to Abby hampers the investigation.

While on the case, they meet the victim's brother, a strange man who is more concerned with drinking a particular brand of soft drink. Also, Kirkendall and Medavoy look into the death of a young boy whose very religious parents suggest that the person who killed their son can be forgiven.
Season 5, Episode 13: Twin Petes
Original Air Date: 10 February 1998 Simone and Russell investigate two stickups held at ATM's where they get a line on a possible suspect and then use Kirkendall to appeal to the suspect's mother to help them reach out to him. Meanwhile, Medavoy attempts to sort out a case where he can't determine if there really is a twin when a man comes to the station to report that his twin brother, Pete, has threatened violence against his former girlfriend. Also, Sipowicz contends with a medical problem involving his prostate while helping Simone and Russell and he is less than forthcoming with what his doctor has told him about his condition.
Original Air Date: 17 February 1998 Simone and Sipowicz try to conduct their investigation in the midst of racial turmoil in the station and the neighborhood when a young white teenager is murdered in a black neighborhood during a drugs-for-guns deal that went bad, and the victim's racist father comes to the station and begins quarreling with Lt. Fancy over his race and roll in the investigation. Meanwhile, Medavoy and Kirkendall investigate the strangulation and dismemberment of the mother of a young boy, who's discovered his mother's body in the refrigerator. Also, Russell decides to take some time off since she's feeling ill due to pregnancy morning sickness, only to suffer a miscarriage at the end.
Original Air Date: 24 February 1998 Simone and Sipowicz investigate the murder of a nurse where the suspects include a struggling actor, a crazy man, and eventually a detective from the precinct named Tommy Richardson. Meanwhile, Medavoy and Kirkendall look into the death of a bicycle messenger who was killed for just trying to help a man whose backpack was stolen, so they determine that the backpack contained drugs. When they get a suspect into custody, Kirkendall figures out a clever way to get an ID on the suspect who won't cooperate. Also, Sipowicz's doctor tries to talk to him about how to deal with his medical problem, but Sipowicz won't listen.
Original Air Date: 3 March 1998 Richardson confronts Sipowicz and Simone about their impending questioning of his wife over the murder of the nurse, but with the exception that Richardson is a real bad person, Sipowicz and Simone reach nothing. In a cross-over from the series "Upstairs", former temp and private detective John Irvin stops by the station to tell the detectives about the new graphics art business he started. But with the exception of the receptionist Dolores, no one is around, including Medavoy who leaves in a hurry for upstate New York where Abby now lives to be by her side when she goes into labor. Meanwhile, Kirkendall and Russell look into the theft of a graduate film student's camera, where only the student seems more interested in dispensing his own justice. Also, Sylvia finally learns about Sipowicz's medical condition from his doctor and finally persuades him to go for further tests and possible surgery.
Original Air Date: 24 March 1998 Simone and Sipowicz look into the shooting of two women (one of whom was killed) who were raped by a group of men in an apartment owned by a former crack dealer, named Jamal, who was crippled in a previous shooting incident. Sipowicz confides in Simone about his medical condition when Simone runs into Sipowicz at the hospital undergoing tests. Meanwhile, Kirkendall, Russell and Medavoy investigate a shooting at a clinic. When they get a woman suspect into custody, a security guard from the clinic who was her secret admirer comes to the precinct demanding she get a second chance.
Original Air Date: 31 March 1998 Tommy Richardson's wife, Laurie, stops by the station to pick up his time records after he transfers to another precinct, where she expresses to Simone and Russell about Tommy's behavior after she caught him in a phone conversation with another woman. Meanwhile, Medavoy and Kirkendall look into the death of a man who was shot and found in the bathtub of his former girlfriend. Also, Sylvia accompanies Sipowicz to the hospital for his latest CAT scan test which goes wrong and they decide to ignore Dr. Talbot's advice and go with the opinion of Dr. Mondzac.
Original Air Date: 28 April 1998 As Sipowicz prepares for prostate surgery with Sylvia by his side, James Martinez returns after recovering from his back problem where he reports that Gina had her baby three weeks earlier. But Medavoy is more happier after returning from upstate New York with a videotape of Abby giving birth to her baby and is very eager to show the tape to anyone who will watch. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad gets involved in a case of five reuniting Army buddies when one of them is found dead. The four other try to keep their fabricated story straight as Simone and the others try to figure out their involvement.
Original Air Date: 5 May 1998 Sipowicz returns to work after his successful prostate surgery, but apparently too soon for he has an accident while interrogating a suspect. So he is given desk duty in helping Simone and Russell investigating the murder of a woman's boyfriend by her ex-husband, where it reveals that he was searching for his daughter who's missing. Meanwhile, Simone is called upon by Detective Nick Savino to help investigate a missing persons report that is being filed by the nephew of one his building's tenants. The missing woman had a couple of run-ins with Simone's partner and building manager, Henry Coffield, so he becomes a suspect. Also, former administrative aide Naomi Reynolds shows up at the station, now wearing a police uniform and speaking in her natural Australian accent, to visit Simone where she tells him that her situation with the INS was resolved and she is now a NYC police officer.
Original Air Date: 12 May 1998 A murdered couple is found where the dead man is a car salesman and the woman is a prostitute. Simone and Sipowicz look into the salesman's death while Medavoy and the other detectives look into the prostitute's death where the M.O. of the suspect is to buy used condoms from a prostitute and then mix the spend semen with his own to cover his crime. As Sipowicz recovers from his surgery, he finds that a recent blood test is not favorable and once again keeps his medical problem to himself.

Evidence points to the opposing attorney having some involvement with the arrangement of the homicide. Meanwhile, Russell and Kirkendall try to help a man locate his missing daughter. Medavoy and Martinez look into a corporation dealing with fake sports memorabilia, where Medavoy is taken in with the blond employees who reminds him of the departed Donna. Also, when Sipowicz thinks about his low sexual functions, his doctor prescribes the wonder drug Viagra. In the mist of all the cases, Simone and Russell decide to get married on their lunch break, but their cases get in the way of it all.

Sipowicz and Clark let him go but send off some of his left behind chewing gum to DNA for testing. Jones goes to court as its the day when Michael is to testify against his father. Ortiz and Ronson go to the scene where tourist Ned Applebaum has been mugged and lost his wife's $35,000 necklace. Ortiz and Ronson eventually find out that Ned met a lady friend on the Internet and he was going to meet her in Little Italy when he was mugged. He was going to loan her the necklace so that she could use it as collateral for a loan for her sick child. The detectives get the PO Box number where Applebaum had sent previous gifts to his lady friend. Ortiz and Ronson go to the apartment of the owner of the PO Box. He is a day trader/con artist who they discover took advantage of Ned Applebaum. They get the necklace back and Ned is forgiven by his wife. Later, Gibson tells Sipowicz and Clark that David Lewis was found DOA in his apartment. They go to the scene and try to determine whether the death was a suicide or not. Sipowicz tries to decide how to proceed with the investigation of Lewis's death; both he and Clark believe that Brockhurst might be involved. Clark gets a call about Dr. Jennifer Devlin and goes to the hospital. The doctor tells her she needs to remain restrained for now, but he is allowed to see her as long as he doesn't loosen her restraints. Sipowicz finds Brockhurst and tells him of his theory that he killed David Lewis. Brockhurst doesn't admit to anything, but tells Sipowicz he is going to be able to sleep tonight now that the case is closed.
