The producers of hit TV show The X-Files originally had their eye on a different Anderson for the character Agent Dana Scully - Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson.
The role of the F.B.I. special agent was made famous by Gillian Anderson, but the actress insists TV studio Twentieth Century Fox wanted to cast the blonde beauty instead.
She says, "That was somebody (Pamela Anderson) who was more familiar to them in terms of what was on TV at the time.
"They were looking for someone bustier, taller, leggier than me. They couldn't fathom how David and me could equal success... At the beginning, nobody trusted that I could do anything. I had no body of work behind me at all, and, certainly Fox felt very strongly that I wasn't the right person for the job."

Latest: Actress Vivica A. Fox has defended her friend Jessica Simpson after Pamela Anderson insulted her on a radio show.
Anderson branded Simpson a "bitch and a whore" after the actress wore a t-shirt promoting meat.
But the former Baywatch actress later insisted her comments, made on an Australian radio show, were meant in jest.
However, Fox defended Simpson's love of meat in footage posted on celebrity website TMZ.com.
She says, "Jessica eats real meat. Pam I love you, but don't go talking about my girl. She is the baddest blonde bitch on the planet."

Latest: Pamela Anderson staged an animal rights protest outside a KFC eaterie in Australia on Thursday - after discovering her guest spot on a reality show was part-sponsored by the fast food chain.
The former Baywatch star has been criticised for her decision to take part in the Australian version of Big Brother because of the show's links to KFC, a company Anderson has previously accused of animal cruelty.
But the strict vegetarian insists she had no idea the programme was sponsored by the fried chicken restaurant, calling it a "coincidence".
Now the blonde bombshell has staged a protest outside a Sydney-based KFC outlet - and even compared her time on the show to the battery chickens who are allegedly farmed by the company for their meat.
She told Australian reporters, "I've been in Australia filming Big Brother House, in which my housemates and I are confined and sealed off from the outside world, much like the chickens who are crammed inside barns for KFC.
"Fortunately, I won't be stomped to death, have my legs broken or be scalded to death in a tank of hot water, yet as PETA's (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) undercover videos have revealed, the chickens raised for KFC's restaurants in Australia often suffer these abuses."

Pamela Anderson has confirmed she and ex-husband Tommy Lee are back together, insisting they make a "great package".
Anderson was married to the Motley Crue rocker for three years until they split in 1998. But they have spent more and more time together recently, and Lee recently claimed his ex and their two sons Dylan, 10 and Brandon, 12, had moved back in with him - and were trying to be a happy family.
And now the former Baywatch star has revealed the on-off couple has no plans to break ties, because Lee is such an important part of her family.
She says, "We are great friends, we are a package deal that's for sure. I am spending a lot of time with him this summer... We enjoy spending time together... It's just one of those things. He is the father of your kids and you can't get rid of them."
Anderson adds, "My family, kids and Tommy are my priority, and they are my focus."
Since her marriage to Lee, Anderson has wed and divorced rock/rapper Kid Rock, and her brief marriage to film producer Rick Salomon was annulled earlier this year.

Latest: Animal rights campaigner Pamela Anderson has defended her decision to take part in the Australian version of reality show Big Brother - claiming she was unaware the programme was part-sponsored by fast food company KFC.
The former Baywatch star was recruited by producers to make a guest spot on the TV show and was sent into the house on Wednesday.
But the vegetarian has come under criticism for her part in the programme, because of the show's links to KFC - a firm Anderson has been protesting against.
However, Anderson insists she did not know of the affiliation, and admits the offer was simply too good to refuse.
She explains, "Every show has a bunch of sponsors and it's not something you look into when you are offered a job. But it's kind of interesting, it's a coincidence."
Meanwhile, her appearance was welcomed by the overwhelmed Big Brother housemates, who initially believed her to be a convincing celebrity look-a-like - until her true identity was revealed.
The star will spend three days in the Big Brother house, but she has chosen not to sleep there - exiting through the diary room every night.
Speaking about her payment for the show, she says, "(The pay cheque was) huge, a lot... Much more than I am worth.
"I don't want to say how much but it is a lot."

Baywatch star David Hasselhoff wants to buy a castle in Scotland - and name if after himself.
The actor and singer, 55, told Scottish comic and U.S. talk show host Craig Ferguson that he's looking for a castle to debut his forthcoming album in - and wouldn't mind snapping one up.
Hasselhoff says, "I'm doing an album of Broadway musicals and I'm going to premiere in a little castle I'm looking for in Scotland.
"As a matter of fact, I'm looking for the Hassel Castle. You're from Scotland aren't you? Can you help me find one? I know I can go there and buy one."

David Hasselhoff has hit out at TV bosses for bringing back his hit show Knight Rider without him.
The actor insists the new incarnation is doomed to fail without his star name attached.
Bitter Hasselhoff, who played Michael Knight on TV from 1982 to 1986, says, "It's going to miss the target a little bit... It's like have Indiana Jones without Indiana Jones."
Hasselhoff recently told WENN he'll have nothing to do with the TV series because producers ignored his ideas for the project's hit pilot and ousted him as a guest star.
Hasselhoff claims he came up with the idea of reviving the franchise and even presented TV bosses with a plot treatment for the show.
But when producers decided to take a different direction for the TV pilot, which aired in America earlier this year, and cut Hasselhoff out, the Baywatch creator decided he wanted nothing to do with the new Knight Rider.
He revealed, "They asked me to come in and do a cameo and promote it and I said I would. But it was not what I had in mind.
"I didn't get a chance to see the show until the final product and it was clearly not what it could've been. It was someone else's vision."

Pamela Anderson has helped animal activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals win a major battle in their war against chicken cruelty.
Bosses at fast food chain KFC in Canada have agreed to improve living and dying conditions for chickens they farm and to add a vegetarian faux chicken to their menu after receiving letters of concern from the actress/model.
Anderson, a longtime PETA fan, has been writing letters to KFC executives for years, urging them to review their farming policies.
The former Baywatch babe, who was born and brought up in Canada, is now targeting KFC bosses in Britain.
She has just penned a letter to Martin Shuker, the Managing Director of KFC Gb Ltd., asking him follow the lead set by Canada's fast food kings.
Anderson writes, "Chickens are bred to grow so quickly they can barely walk and they stew in their own waste for their entire lives. This is Colonel Sanders' real 'secret recipe.'
"At slaughter, these poor animals are still conscious when they are snapped into metal shackles, often with broken legs. They are shocked in an electrified water bath and many are still fully conscious when their necks are sliced open. Some are even burned to death in the scalding tank for feather removal.
"Until I hear from PETA that you will be agreeing to make changes similar to those agreed to by KFC Canada - and recommended by KFC's own animal welfare advisors - I will be boycotting KFC."

Amidst the controversies surrounding Hugh Hefner's girlfriends, he recently celebrated his 82nd birthday at the Playboy Club in Las Vegas’s Palms Casino Hotel last month. Among fans and guests present at the event was former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, who cooked up a nice surprise for the magazine mogul. In fact, she gave the birthday boy a cake and a lap dance, which she performed in nothing but a pair of high heels.
"[Hefner] was stunned. He had the biggest smile I’ve ever seen," Palms Casino owner George Maloof told Celebcrust. The cake Anderson delivered had the usual birthday greeting and a photo of Hefner with his three girlfriends, Kendra Wilkinson, Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt.
"I think it was the perfect surprise for him," Kendra told Us Magazine at a Celebrity Family Feud taping on Saturday in Los Angeles. "Come on, Pam Anderson, walking out with a cake,

Playboy tycoon Hugh Hefner had a series of naughty sweet treats for his recent 82nd birthday, including chocolate body parts and a cake presented to him by a nude Pamela Anderson.
The ageing porn mogul celebrated his birthday in April and he's still munching his way through the risque molded chocolate body parts of his three Playmate companions.
But even they were shocked when Hefner's favourite pin-up, former Baywatch beauty Anderson, showed up to hand over his cake - naked.
Kendra Wilkinson, one of Hef's three girlfriends, says, "I think it was the perfect surprise for him - Pam Anderson, walking out with a cake naked... what can get better than that?"
Wilkinson tells Us Weekly magazine she gave her man a white chocolate replica of her naked butt.
She adds, "I molded my ass, so I could call it 'chocolate starfish'. It was white chocolate, and I put a dark chocolate little thing right in the middle."

Pamela Anderson is selling off her prized Dodge Viper car and giving the proceeds to charity - because she is a "terrible driver".
The former Baywatch babe recently held a huge estate sale at her Malibu, California home - clearing out her unwanted possessions and donating the money to animal rights charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Now the star's beloved car is to become the latest item to be sold off, when the customised vehicle goes for auction later this month.
And Anderson admits she is glad to be rid of the car - as it was too dangerous for her to own such a powerful automobile.
She says, "I'm a terrible driver. It's just not a good idea for me to have a Viper."
