Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot
Original Air Date: 29 September 1985 In the opening gambit, Mac must retrieve a top-secret pentagon rocket which crashed in Central Asia on a desolate, barren rock mountain and is already guarded by hostile soldiers. Mac's mountaineering, engineering and flying skills are put to good, daring and ingenious use... In the main story, Mac's scientist friend Gantner calls a big favor: an explosion in his top-secret science lab has trapped a group of researchers and caused a leak of extremely corrosive acid which will take only hours to contaminate the water in several US states, so the whole lab will be destroyed using an even worse counter-agent, regardless of the trapped people, unless Mac can stop the leakage and pass the good news. First Mac must get past a laser security system, for him simpler then a smoke-screen. When he is trough one scientist refuses to be evacuated, she helps him get to her research partner trapped in a cave-in. The army is getting restless, preparing a nuclear warhead, and was the explosion even an accident in the first place?
Original Air Date: 6 October 1985 Macgyver is sent to Burma to recover some material lost in a plane crash. While there he is taken prisoner by a drug lord who suspects him of being a narcotics agent. MacGyver must team up with local villagers to save the day.
Original Air Date: 13 October 1985 MacGyver sneaks in a Middle Eastern tribal leader's camp to return a priceless thoroughbred, the theft of which was fared to start a tribal war which might sparkle a big one, is cornered, wins the duel unarmed on horseback and is picked up with the precious mount; that story ends well right there. Just back, Mac is personally asked to receive confidential information from fellow secret agent Nikolaj Grodsky in then communist Hungary's capital Budapast. He catches gypsy girl Jana picking his knife from his pocket, only to find after he lets her go she struck again already. The thief picked Nikolaj's pocket too, unnoticed, just before he's terminally hit by a car when running for Russian agent Kossov, who searches the corps in vain for his watch but sees Mac and Jana on traffic camera recordings and orders both brought in, helped by Hungarian police inspector Jan Messic. When Mac finds Jana, she tells him in tears to fear for her family as she already passed the watch to her brother Bruno; once they find Bruno and the others in Borza political prison, Mac springs them free in his surprising explosive way, only to hear the watch was already sold to gypsy fence Reena, who lets him take it when Kossov and Messic arrive. The four gypsies asks Mac to take them to America, so it's a hot race to the Austrian border...
Original Air Date: 20 October 1985 In the opening gambit, Mac gets a map with a troublesome Arab regime's plans from a heavily guarded garrison and uses its cleverly as main tool for his surprise escape. In the main story, Mac is sent by a publisher to retrieve press photographer Kate Connelly from a corrupt Central American country, but she insists to finish her assignment first, so he helps her exposing the secret police chief, General Antonio Vasquez, who is suspected to plan a coup, making a secret arms deal with mobster Dave Ryerson, an old adversary of Mac. They are caught, but Mac uses all his tricks to escape and get the photos out too, impressive enough to turn her into a frisky friend, while the army uses all its resource to chase them to the Mexican border stream...
Season 1, Episode 5: The Heist
Original Air Date: 3 November 1985 U.S. Senator Rhodes asks Mac to help his daughter Chris on the Virgin Islands to get back the diamonds which got stolen by Daniel Sims, the accountant he hired for his African famine charity and got shot himself by his accomplice Catlin, a former mercenary, who runs a hotel and casino on the Virgin Islands. Mac decides to steal the rocks back from his casino's top-security vault, which he plans to infiltrate, for once in Bond style (tuxedo), by cheating and asking his considerable winnings to be stored there. Catlin was warned and spots his tricked dice, but after a daring escape they return by the back-door with an elaborate diversion, at least Mac has learned the stones are not in the official vault but the private one in Catlin's office. However there are more surprises on both sides..

Season 1, Episode 7: Last Stand
Original Air Date: 17 October 1985 On one of Mac's favorite trips down Memory Lane, looking in vain for his late father's favorite, perfect fishing spot, he gets lost as usual, this time ending up in a diner run by a boy's mother Kelly Nielson. As soon as the other guests lose patience, Mac gets held at gun-point with her and the black cook by a bunch of criminals who took over the road café two hours earlier to rob a passing money transport from Dallas. Mac saves the driver's life by making a non-lethal blowtorch to open the 'can', only to see him shot anyhow. Mac now teams up with the other male hostage, Kelly's friend, traumatized Vietnam veteran helicopter pilot Dave Redding, and learns the troublesome fiends' plan to commit a hijack on the adjoining flying school's airstrip, which they try to counter, either obeying to survive or cleverly sabotaging, with more highly original McGyverisms, using anything around...

Original Air Date: 27 November 1985 During a trip to visit some friends, an accident starts a fire in an oil-well owned by MacGyver's friends. MacGyver and his buddy then go to fetch dynamite in an abandoned mine at great peril to themselves after they decide the dynamite is the only feasible way the fire can be put out. However, when they use it, the fire only becomes more intense. Can MacGyver and his Hellfire friend survive the incredible heat to put out the fire and save the oil buried underneath the well...?

In order to prevent fellow Western passenger-hostages starving, Mac and the others must identify the two Anglo-Saxon businessmen who sold the village dispensary poison instead of medicines; an escape attempt and a luggage search fail, but Mac improvises a lie-detector. Meanwhile some of them deal with their halted lives and reconsider their past and future...

The pilot who was to return the party a few days later gets a heart-attack, so they crash in the wilderness. The rebellious ruffians (boys and one disputed girl) prove quite a handful to get out of trouble -most of which they keep creating- even with macgyverisms, but a serious grudge between gang leaders and a medical emergency really push Mac's resourcefulness to the limit, but at least now they all pull together...

Mac and Pete fly and rappel to the rescue of an orphanage run there by Pete's platonic friend, Catholic nun Margareth. To Mac's surprise, her assistant is his own former girlfriend Debra Easton, now a religious novice, who helps him keep ahead with the orphans of the surprisingly resourceful captain Chanthara, who was barely outsmarted by Macgyverisms but shot both their rescue helicopter and its pilot Jimmy; Debra fall out, Mac dives after her, so Pete shouts the code Bulgaria: pick-up there in eight hours. While Mac and his mate run for the captain's men, escape after capture and face their own doubts, Pete and sister Margareth face theirs, repairs to the helicopter and a traitor in the refugee camp run by French MD Gilbert Arnaud.
Season 2, Episode 8: Eagles
Original Air Date: 17 November 1986 Mac happily volunteers for a Phoenix foundation mission: helping protect the golden eagle. The pair he is sent to check on lives on a steep mountain; during his first attempt to approach it by para-glider, they get attacked in flight by a rich poacher and his criminal accomplices in a helicopter, who shoot the male by gun, far out of reach, and wound the female by crossbow before taking off; Mac descends to get the female, nearby, and teams up there with bright ten year-old Darin Cooper, who learned a lot about eagles from his late granddad. They bring the wounded eagle to the cabin where Darin's over-protective single mother Susan brought him in an attempt to mend her bond with the growing boy, who needs more space to become a man and instantly takes to understanding father figure Mac, nurse it and realize the male and probable chicks must be found, raising them is not a single parent job with eagles. With improvised extra climbing gear Mac risks his life dangling on and up the mountain, but ultimately gets the male down, only to find the fiends, who fear a witness, have taken hold of the Coopers. Macgiverisms win the battle one to two. Last task is to follow the healed male to the nest and get the chicks, who need human nursing after the female sadly dies, and they're in an even less accessible spot...
Original Air Date: 24 November 1986 Mac and Pete present a Phoenix foundation invention to a school for the deaf/mute: it converts sounds into waves to feel. The teacher Carrie Linden has strange, scary, symbolic dreams involving lightening, a Moor on a horse, a steel skeleton, a limousine and Mac's dead. A U.S. Army jeep is robbed of secret Moloch missile warheads by a fake sheriff and his deputies in South Carolina, they travel far to steal from an exhibition another part of the rocket. After a lightening bolts-marked van nearly runs them over, Mac convinces Pete to bring Carrie to dream researchers. They decide to take her along to a military test of the device, where she recognizes the fake sheriff, whose team escapes after a fire-fight, killing one of their own, and Mac realizes they are stealing Moloch missiles part by part. Mac helps Carrie identify the Braden Lake from her dream by its shape, and takes her there do 'decypher' the rest of the dream, successfully, but they're attacked by the missile thieves who kidnap her. It's high time for major Macgyverisms and brave, clever fighting...

After noticing Mac, she negotiates the front to pay her $100,000 extra to kill him and uses the Front stooges she planned to kill anyhow, but a few Macgyverisms overcome their clumsy attempts to imprison and kill Mac, while she deletes the bomb's inventory file and holds Harry hostage. Original Air Date: 12 January 1987 While Pete's wife Connie, an archaeologist, and their adolescent son Michael, who resents his absentee father, are on a dig in Louisisiana, they are kidnapped by the men of mercenary Frank Bonner, a former agency colleague of Pete whom he blames for the death of the Bonner family in a Yemeni tribal pacification mission which went wring after Frank embezzled agency funds, planning a gruesome revenge: make Pete watch his own loved-ones die. MacGyver flies ahead so he can bug the gang's car at the meeting point. Even as they change vehicle, Mac works out where and sees trough Obadiah Moss they planted there to point him into the bayou, so he can make a surprising entry, frees Michael and together with him returns for his parents, pulling Macgyverisms all the time.
Season 2, Episode 13: Soft Touch
Original Air Date: 19 January 1987 Mac goes to a nuclear plant in Siberia to spring Yuri Demetri, a Soviet Russian political prisoner on account of his father's defection. Back in the States, Mac is not amused to find penniless Penny Parker invited herself to stay in his Californian home, but allows her to house-sit a few days. At her new job, as singing telegram, airhead Penny accidentally bursts into the wrong house, where Columbian drugs cartel-employed killers are decibel-torturing federal agent Robert Julian, a potential witness to their next hit by voice recognition-triggered bomb in Jack Larson's wheelchair to kill politician Javier Estevez in Phoenix Foundation-secured city-hall; she escapes and tells Mac. Later Penny recognizes on TV Derek Thompson, Estevez's corrupt aid who she saw at the torture, but the goons kidnap her and Yuri, planning to eliminate all embarrassing witnesses. Mac tails them to a warehouse, where he starts pulling his tricks to save his two friends who were left in a cooling cell (walk-in freezer) to die from frost, next he must handle the bomb last-minute.

Original Air Date: 9 February 1987 The USNavy enlists the Phoenix Foundation's help to find out who used its SEALs diving techniques to commit three pirate robberies in two weeks. Next victim is archaeologist Barbara Ortega's crew, which just found the log and some coins of a 17th century Spanish treasure fleet. The 'pirate captain' Gar Manning planned to sell the gold back to Ortega, but overhears her explaining about the valuable log to Mac, so his team eliminates the sole witness, kidnaps Barbara and leaves Mac in a sinking yacht; yet he escapes and works out with Pete and the Navy that the ideal hiding place for once psychiatry-test-refused SEAL-applicant Gar is Navy exercise site Goat Island, so Mac approaches it in SEAL style, only to find it dangerous in several ways....
Original Air Date: 16 February 1987 A certain Phil is followed by the gang men of mob boss Sam Leland, who have orders to get hold of an incriminating microfilm and kill him, so he hides it in a ski stick which he exchanges after deliberately bumping into Mac, who took reluctant and wining boss Pete to spend their 'bonus' vacation on the ski piste. First Max and the the stick get buried in an avalanche, but he cleverly finds a way to indicate where he is trapped. After the rescue, Pete stupidly breaks his foot, so Mac has to nurse the demanding, grumpy boss 'without fussing' over him and his cask. Then the criminals try kidnapping first Mac, who gets away, and then Pete, so Mac comes to the rescue, and discovers the stick is the key...
Original Air Date: 23 February 1987 When Mac -alone- attends eternal prankster Jack Dalton's church funeral, he finds the scoundrel staged it to escape enemy spies whose packages his new messenger service Jack-be-Quick was to deliver but betrayed to the CIA. They escape by sidecar, but are blamed by CIA and police for the murder on Jack's CIA contact Light and betrayed by absent Pete's substitute's CIA friend, so they turn to Light's female partner Shadow, still chased by double agents, she's focused on the CIA rotten apples and a top-secret encryption device. Mac sneaks the others in at the auction the enemy uses as contraband cover, but...
Season 2, Episode 18: Partners
Original Air Date: 2 March 1987 Mac and Pete are trapped in a large truck, destination unknown. They reminisce about how they first met and started to work together, while dealing with an assassin named Murdoc. Murdoc has a messy end planned for the two of them, but is seemingly killed instead by the final explosion.

Original Air Date: 23 March 1987 Kelly Henderson may beat Mac and Pete for the Phoenix Foundation's field exercise trophy, they are send by boss Jeff Moore, who pilots the dropping plane personally, as rescue team when her dad Joe Henderson is arrested and expected to be convicted to death as alleged spy after his plane crashed on its way to Panama, yet Kelly stowed away so she can jump with them in the banana republic San Perez, which just had colonel Salazar's military coup. Their contact is Lt. Paul Parra, Joe's army-appointed defense counsel. Season 2, Episode 20: Friends
Original Air Date: 6 April 1987 Mac returns from the field shaken by too many near death experiences. Determined to resign, he realizes over the course of a birthday party how much the people he's helped mean to him.

The Pheonix Foundation devises a plan to free him, but it involves Macgyver posing as a newly-wed with a woman that he despises.

The man claims the ERR (Einsatzstab Rosenberg Reichminister, WWII Nazi art looters) stole the painting. There is a villainous-looking man observing and reporting to someone over a mobile phone. Something is going on... *****SPOILER WARNING***** Yep, those damn Neo-Nazis are at it again, planning to overtake five states, which equals 10% of The USA (hence the title), funding their election campaigns with paintings stolen from the Jewish people during WWII.

MacGyver and Pete, who are on their way to to deliver gifts to a local youth center, see and old homeless lady being harassed by two punks and chase them away. They take the lady to the youth center, where she gets shelter. Sadly, the center is under a threat of being shut down because of lack of money. Pete can't help because the Phoenix Foundation budget is already locked for the next six months. The priest from the church speaks on TV, petitioning for information on The Madonna. MacGyver decides to help. But in the unfolding events, the old lady has a role to play as well.
Season 5, Episode 12: Serenity
Original Air Date: 8 January 1990 MacGyver is burnt out because of the Phoenix Foundation's demanding tasks and decides to take a leave. Also, in his answering machine, there are messages from Jack, who has yet another crazy fortune-making idea, and Penny, who is asking for a favor. MacGyver tries to watch a western on TV, but falls asleep on the couch. In his dream, he is in post-Emancipation Old West, arriving in a town called Serenity. There he meets incarnations of Jack, Penny, Wilt Bozer, Milt Bozer, Billy Colton, and, of course, his nemesis, Murdoc... But the Bad Guy is Pete!

The Phoenix Foundation has chosen a school with a high drop-out rate and to test their pilot program for lowering the number of drop-outs there. MacGyver gives a physics demonstration using Deron, a young Afro-American football player in high school. He's only interested in sports, but MacGyver tries to make him believe that by concentrating in studying, he could go way further than to Superbowl. Tony is another kid who doesn't bother to take part in science projects - he finds it much more stimulating to sabotage them. MacGyver sees hope for Tony and chooses him as a test subject in the program, but the George Fraley, the toughest critic against soft methods on problem youth thinks Tony is a lost cause. The program requires two positive role models for the subject: one teacher and one outside volunteer. MacGyver nominates himself and Fraley. Tony's dad is a workman at a construction site where the project is two weeks behind schedule. The project manager gives the foreman the order to "be creative". Could the plots for Tony's school and his father's construction site possibly converge?

For good, if the money obtained from selling the treasure would be used for education. For bad, if MacGyver's old school-buddy Enrique could use it to fund a revolution. Hesitantly, MacGyver agrees to help Maria.
Original Air Date: 19 February 1990 A jockey refuses to have any part on a horse race fixed by his employer, a wealthy man called Mr. Henderson. The jockey threatens to go to the police, so Mr. Henderson throws him in a stall with a horse and activates a device which makes the horse crazy. The jockey is stomped to death by the horse. The jockey's daughter Jenny arrives to find his body. The police investigate his death and conclude that it was an accident but Jenny has found evidence that makes her believe it was not, so she calls Jack Dalton and MacGyver to investigate what has happened.

Fortunately, MacGyver's group has come up with a device called ERMA, that is capable of creating false sonar readings, thus making a DEAD sub equipped with one invisible to all cartel sonar. Of course, the cartel would be VERY interested in getting their hands on such a device...

Meanwhile, an old man named Cody, who knew Harry, is released from prison - what are the odds, eh? Outside, a biker chick called Big Mama and his man called Dent have been waiting for Cody's release. They don't alert him to their present, but start following Cody. But someone is following them in a black car with darkened windows. MacGyver arrives at the garage and is given a riddle. And an old car. Cody arrives at another garage, hoping to find the car there, but it has been moved to the garage where MacGyver is. Big Mama drops Dent at the "wrong" garage to interrogate the owner in order to find what Cody was looking for and then she follows Cody. The black car follows her. MacGyver has just finished polishing the car when Cody arrives. It turns he has met MacGyver and his grandfather before he went to jail. He wants to know if MacGyver has found anything unusual in the car... MacGyver gets suspicious. Big Mama is outside, waiting for Dent, who tells her that Cody is after a '57 Nomad. Cody tricks MacGyver for leaving him alone with the car for a while and finds a hidden envelope - addressed to HIM. Then Big Mama and Dent drive in. Things are starting to get complicated...
Original Air Date: 12 November 1990 Maria (from #6.5, 'The Wall) has been offered a position at the university and she's considering leaving the Phoenix Foundation. That way she could settle down with MacGyver. But commitment is "not an easy thing" for him to talk about. MacGyver takes Maria to his place, only to find Kate Murphy (from #6.6, 'Lesson in Evil') there! Then some young woman called Jenny bursts down from upstairs. Turns out she's with Kate. Over some Chinese, the women gang up against MacGyver and The Old West gets mentioned. MacGyver retreats upstairs and starts to watch a western on video but, once again falls asleep. Cue again a dream, where MacGyver lives in the Old West, a town called Serenity (#5.12, 'Serenity'), among familiar faces like the Bozer brothers.

To MacGyver's surprise, Nikolai has been accommodated at his place! MacGyver goes to find the person in charge of athlete housing, only to find out that it is Ellen, his high school sweetheart from 20 years before. Old feelings resurface, but why is someone secretly taking photos of them?

There he finds an envelope waiting for him, containing an audio cassette with instructions to play it. A voice tells that he will be waiting for MacGyver ahead and then proceeds to describe how the area once busy with living things died. Even the air is hazardous to breathe. The voice is convinced that this is what will happen to the town of Maple Ridge if constructor Bartlett's City Development Program becomes a reality.

Meanwhile, MacGyver and a woman are attending a hearing about the homeless situation in the area and start wondering why Father Jim is late. The woman is Rachel, Father Jim's assistant whom he had instructed to say to MacGyver "black and blue" should he be late. It's an old expression from their hockey days, a call for help. Then the word arrives: Father Jim has been taken to hospital in a critical condition. His speak makes of little sense. He mumbles something of Danny and Doc. The police deem in unlikely that the muggers will be caught. Then the doctor comes with the news: Father Jim has expired. It's time for MacGyver to start an investigation of his own.
Original Air Date: 4 March 1991 A man has been killed in broad daylight and Pete is at the scene. A stranger passes Pete by and whispers into his ear: "It's off." When Pete is looking at sketches of the suspects, MacGyver notices that Pete has trouble with his vision. Agent Stams from DXS arrives to meet Pete. Phoenix took on the job of returning Samantha Lora, a political fugitive, to her home country. Samantha's supporters were going to deliver a video tape stolen from San Pablo presidential palace, a tape showing summary executions of 200 political prisoners, when they ran into a death squad waiting for them. Pete was supposed to get the tape because they have a 6 p.m. deadline for a media conference about its contents at a local broadcasting station (exactly why the tape would be worthless after that is left unexplained), but the man who has it took off when the death squad appeared and his whereabouts are unknown. Samantha is the only one who knows how to contact him. And for her, Phoenix has arrived a safe place until her transport to San Pablo leaves. Pete and MacGyver go to pick up Samantha when she arrives undercover. Samantha calls the number at which the man with the tape can be contacted. He then calls her back and agrees a time and place where he will deliver the tape. MacGyver gets to be the pick-up man. But underlings of the president of San Pablo are on his tail...
Original Air Date: 18 March 1991 MacGyver steps into a bear trap in the woods while tracking a wolf. Luckily for him, two friendly elderly sisters, who are not friends of bear traps, take him home with them and take care of him.
