Continuity: The racing form that Wimpy puts back in his coat pocket winds up on the floor when Olive finds it and is later seen back in his hand (on the boat) while he's asking Sweet'pea about which horse to bet on.
Continuity: When Popeye finds his pappy tied to the chair hanging from the ceiling in Bluto's ship, he takes his pipe out of his mouth before he hugs his pappy. Seconds later, the pipe is back in his mouth.
Continuity: In the climax, when the octopus is pulling down the boat with Sweet Pea inside, Olive's dress can be seen in the right-hand corner of the screen in the underwater shot (widescreen version).
Continuity: Just before Pappy starts singing "It's Not Easy Bein' Me" his pipe is in his mouth, then after he starts singing the pipe disappears, then near the end of the song when he's tied up it's in his hand.
Continuity: When Popeye is hit in the stomach by Oxblood Oxheart after Oxblood accidentally knocks out his mother, Popeye went rolling backwards, but in the next shot he's rolling forwards into the ropes.
Miscellaneous: The Paramount logo used at the opening was never used for any of the Paramount Popeye cartoons, though it is portrayed as being from a Popeye cartoon. Also, the opening credits sequence shown (doors of the wooden ship) was from the earlier Fleischer Studios cartoons, as opposed to the later Paramount cartoons.
Revealing mistakes: During Popeye's fight in the boxing ring, the large banner at times has mirror writing revealing the shot has been flipped.
Revealing mistakes: As per the info in the trivia section of this film, the make up and appliances for Popeye's massive forearms were not ready. So in some scenes, especially the boxing match, if you look at the inside of his forearms, you can see that they are merely flesh colored pads tied over Robin Williams' arms (the strings are visible).
