Two actors, Todd Susman and Sal Viscuso, primarily did them. Coincidentally, they also appeared as characters in various episodes. Gary Burghoff + Jamie Farr were the only regular cast members to occasionally make the "incoming wounded" announcement.

What does MASH stand for?

Mobile Army Surgical Hospital.

Captain Oliver "Spearchucker" Jones appeared in only six episodes of the first season. Common belief is the producers decided to drop the character because the United States Army had no African-American surgeons in the Korean War. But the truth is there were African-American surgeons in the Korean War as evident in the book by Richard Hooker from which the movie and tv show is based. According to Gene Reynolds the Character "Spearchucker" was removed because the actor Timothy Brown who portrayed Spearchucker wanted out of his contract. He wanted to pursue bigger and better things.

Both actors that played Henry Blake died within a day of each other. McLean Stevenson died of a heart attack on 15 February 1996 and the next day, 16 February, Roger Bowen, who played him in the movie, died of the same cause.
