Icons friend John Torrani, the original America's Bad Kid, is back and kicking ass. In his new America's Bad Kids clip, he interviews Frankenhooker and Basket Case director Frank Henenlotter. Torrani gets some great material out of Henenlotter, focusing on his new film Bad Biology. Usually I'd give some tidbits, but I suggest you watch the clip below.
We at Icons of Fright are huge supporters of Torrani and his Abk. Check out other Abk interviews on Torrani's site here, or you can actually find past episodes on Icons of Fright by doing a site search of America's Bad Kids(I suggest you check them out on our site. But hey, I'm biased).
Check out this conversation between two mad geniuses!

When the Hammer Falls... It’s Gonna Hurt
Imagine my surprise when X and I arrived at the Tribeca Cinema on Bowery Street in NYC, and it looked just like a bar. No lit-up marquee, no ticket booth, nobody selling popcorn. No throngs of horror fans at the ready for the NYC Horror Film Festival. Just a glass door at a place called Blvd, a bunch of blue lighting and a lonely bartender scrubbing some glasses at the long bar. Obviously we were at the wrong place. After few phone calls and text messages, we were back on track. Fortunately, I’m habitually early for everything, so even taking into account the walk between Penn Station and the Bowery, we had plenty of time to make our way back to the real Tribeca Cinema, which is on Canal and 6th.
Arriving at the right location, my second surprise hit: my »

A veritable feast for fans of horror and dark fantasy, this month's New York City Horror Film Festival will host more than 50 films and shorts at the Tribeca Cinemas. The festival boasts works from F. W. Murnau and William Lustig, as well as the new film Sweatshop. Our readers should take particular interest in Sweatshop, as two of the men behind it are Icons friends Ted Geoghegan as writer, and America's Baddest Kid John Torrani in a producer role. Sweatshop shows on November 20, and I'll be there to cover the event for Icons.
Come out and show your support for Sweatshop and other horror films at the Nychff, a festival dedicated exclusively to horror lovers.

America's Bad Kids is back! With a brand new episode! This time, host John Torrani reunites with heavy metal band Gwar! Now, be warned. This is probably among one of the most controversial episodes of Bad Kids. It contains "adult" language. It's in terribly bad taste! But would you expect anything less from Gwar?!? Watch below at your own risk!

In an unofficial follow-up to a piece from the New York Comic-con in February (see it here) Sweatshop screenwriter Ted Geoghegan and associate producer John Torrani (also of America's Bad Kids) return to the Fangoria Entertainment booth to give some updates on their many projects.
Fango's Marla Newborn and Bekah McKendry talk with the guys about their films, the death of David Carradine, Gwar, and the reviews of Fango Managing Editor (and Sweatshop guest-star) Michael Gingold.
Though some viewers (myself included) lost audio toward the end of the clip, the archived video is just fine, and we've got it here below. »

It was Saturday evening, April 18th and several events were the buzz of the Fangoria Weekend Of Horrors. There was of course Fango's own "vampire ball", a replacement to the usual ice cream social they throw every year. Or the Laid To Rest premiere at the Laemmmle's Grande. But your faithful Icons staffers Robg., John Torrani and Adam Barnick already had their night's plans covered. Dolph Lundgren Fest at the New Beverly! 5 Dolph Lundgren films, back to back on the big screen! Including I Come In Peace at midnight! There was no way in hell we were missing this!
Torrani and I had sadly missed the first feature Red Scorpion, but we got there half way through Universal Soldier. While fun, nothing compared to the sheer audience excitement for the evening's next feature Rocky IV! We cheered for Rocky, boo-ed for Drago and did shots of vodka (with B-d's Brian Collins) when Apollo died. »

On Sunday, April 19th, Shock Till You Drop's Ryan "Rotten" Turek organized the first ever "Horror On The Web" panel for the La Fangoria Weekend Of Horrors convention, which featured representatives from several of the top horror websites on the internet, each there to discuss what their respective publications do. Fangoria's own Sean Decker came prepared and provided the guests with martini's, which helped kick off the topics with a bang! From left to right, host Ryan Rotten (Shock Till You Drop), Staci Layne Wilson (Horror.Com), Jimmy-o (Arrow In The Head), Uncle Creepy (Dread Central), Robg. (Icons Of Fright), Sean Decker (Fangoria), James Zahn (Fangoria) & Lawrence Raffel (FearNET).
Among the topics discussed were the origins of each writer's work on their respective sites, the current state of horror, balancing out friendships with genre filmmakers versus reviewing their movies and even trading most memorable interview stories & convention experiences.

This upcoming weekend marks the return of the Texas Frightmare Weekend in Dallas, Texas, and while our staffer Phil Fasso always makes the effort to hit up this particular convention, he sent along this message to our fellow Icons readers -
"Regrettably I won't be able to make my planned trip to the Dallas are for this weekend's Texas Frightmare Weekend, but that shouldn't stop you horror fans from going. Tfw is the largest con in the area, and this year offers some great guests to Texans, such as Alice Cooper, Tobe Hooper, C.J. Graham, the great Dick Miller, the cast of Laid to Rest, and Icon's own John Toranni, many of whom will make their first appearance in the area (incidentally, Toranni is listed as a Texas filmmaker, but he's actually a fellow Long Islander). Last year's Tfw was one of the greatest cons I've ever been to, »

For the 3rd episode of America's Bad Kids, host John Torrani decided it was time to chat with the girl the bad kids think about when they touch them themselves. Besides digging horror, this American "bad girl" produced a "horror/porn" hybrid flick titled Succubus XXX (also starring cutie Liz Vicious). John checks out the movie and then hangs out with Raven Riley to talk horror in this now-classic episode. Check it out for yourselves! America's Bad Kids Episode 3: Raven Riley right down below!
