As I drove up the winding mountain road to Big Bear, CA in the pitch-black night, I wondered, “What’s gay about the Big Bear Horror Film Festival?” Answer: just about everything.
What I didn’t realize before arriving was that a large homo contingent would be in attendance. In fact, there were so many gays in this tiny mountain village, to write “out gay ____” before each name I mention would be a chore. So I’m going to denote all the gay up in Big Bear with a “*”.
The Backstory: Several months ago Bbhf founder Michael Coulombe* pinged me via this blog with some very preliminary info on the fest. Sensing an opportunity to spread my super-important opinions around, I offered myself up as a judge for the festival. Realizing what a publicity juggernaut this blog can be, he immediately said, “Yes!” and I was on board.

Disney's added a new image of Mia Wasikowska from the Tim Burton-helmed "Alice in Wonderland." The adaptation of the famed classic Lewis Carroll story stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Geraldine James and Matt Lucas. Linda Woolverton adapts the screenplay. The film sees theatres on March 5th next year and is produced by Tim Burton, Jennifer Todd, Suzanne Todd, Richard D. Zanuck and Joe Roth. "A Christmas Carol" has two fresh images. Two series are coming back to ABC -- one beloved and one essentially ignored. Regardless of how viewers feel about them, neither one are going back into production. The network is just burning off already shot episodes of Pushing Daisies and Opportunity Knocks. What about Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money?
Pushing Daisies follows a lovable piemaker (Lee Pace) who can revive the deceased, his childhood sweetheart (Anna Friel), and his private eye partner (Chi McBride). Others in the cast include Ellen Greene, Swoosie Kurtz, Kristin Chenoweth, Field Cate, Sean Lake, Sy Richardson, Stephen Root, and Sammi Hanratty, with narration by Jim Dale. The series ran for two abbreviated seasons. Based on low ratings, ABC opted not to order any additional episodes past the 22nd. Only 19 of them have aired.
