Warner Bros. is facing a host of staggering problems as it prepares to shoot Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third installment of the Harry Potter movies, the Los Angeles Times observed today (Monday). Among them: A one-year delay to allow star Daniel Radcliffe to start a prestigious private school in England; the installation of Alfonso Cuarón as director, taking over from Chris Columbus [Producer Art Linson in his tell-all Hollywood book What Just Happened, describes the frequent conflicts that occurred between Cuarón and screenwriter Mitch Glazer on the set of 1998's Great Expectations]; rendering J.K. Rowling's 734-page third book as a screenplay; the aging of the teenage stars; and the need to find another actor to play Professor Albus Dumbledore, portrayed in the first two installments by the late Richard Harris. Warner Bros. President Alan Horn told the Times that mounting the third film is turning out to be "a Herculean task."
