I remember seeing a trailer for the live action Chipmunks movie, and after I picked my jaw up off the floor, I realized without a doubt that computer generated Smurfs were soon to follow. Sure enough, word came not long after that such a movie was being planned and the writers of Shrek were considering the screenplay. However, nothing prepared me for the news I read last week that a Berenstain Bears movie is now in the works. Walden Media, the production company responsible for The Chronicle of Narnia movies, has purchased the rights to the Berentstain books, and Shawn Levy, who directed Night at the Museum, will produce the project. Levy spoke with USA Today [1] last week and discussed some of his plans for the new movie. Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake are tapped to head into Jellystone Park as part of Warner Bros.’ live-action/CG animated “Yogi Bear.” Brad Copeland wrote the script, which Eric Brevig is directing. Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt are onboard to produce the project, which is based on the Hannah-Barbera cartoon character. He first debuted in 1958 as a supporting character on “The Huckleberry Hound Show” cartoon before eventually gaining his own show. "Yogi Bear" is set to delight moviegoers and he wants to bring Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake along with him.
Warner Bros. is rebooting the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon with a full feature film. All the actors are in negotiations right now to star in the live-action/CG hybrid for director Eric Brevig ("Journey to the Center of the Earth).
The Hollywood Reporter tells us that, "Faris will play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of a bear in fictional Jellystone Park. Aykroyd will voice Yogi, and Timberlake could end up lending his pipes for Yogi's constant companion, Boo Boo."
Joshua Sternin and Jeff Ventimilia wrote the original script and Brad Copeland did the rewrites and the current version of the screenplay. The studio is hoping to start production in New Zealand in December. »

Entertainment Weekly has uncovered the supposed casting for the upcoming live-action/hybrid adventure that will bring the lovable picnic basket thief Yogi Bear to the big screen. The Hanna-Barbera cartoon will be adapted into a 3D film by director Eric Brevig (Journey to the Center of the Earth), with a screenplay from Wild Hogs scribe Brad Copeland. We now know who will voice Yogi, his trusty little friend Boo Boo and who will play a documentary filmmaker trying to get a glimpse of these two hungry bears. Dan Aykroyd will voice Yogi, with pop star turned actor Justin Timberlake taking his side as the voice of Boo-Boo. From Movies Blog: Remember kids, the truth is always far, far stranger than fiction. It was a little more than a year ago that we found out the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series "Yogi Bear" would be getting a big screen treatment. There was no casting announced or anything like that; just that the project was happening with "Surf's Up" director Ash Brannon at the helm and that it would feature a mix of live-action and CG animation.
Well today, the plot thickened. Variety reports that Anna Faris, Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd are all in negotiations to join the cast of the movie, which will now be directed by "Journey to the Center of the Earth" helmer Eric Brevig from a script by Brad Copeland ("Wild Hogs").

Justin Timberlake joined friends for a round of golf in La yesterday afternoon. He's enjoying some downtime after dealing with some recent stalker drama and before he gets down to work on The Social Network, which started filming this week in Maryland. Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake are in negotiations for Warner Bros’ live-action/CGI hybrid feature Yogi Bear.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Faris will play Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project. Though her last movie was voice work for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Faris’ character will be a live-action performance.
Aykroyd will lend the voice of Yogi Bear, the picnic basket-stealing menace to Jellystone Park. Timberlake will provide the vocals for Boo-Boo, his bow-tied sidekick. Both bears are expected to remain pantless. No word on which lucky actor gets to play the Park Ranger. Is Jason Lee available for a paycheck?

Cartoon/live action hybrids have had a rocky history. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was excellent, aided by the fact that it was more of an original story, but films like The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Garfield weren’t that great (although Bill Murray has the kind of laconic, lazy speech that worked well for the morose cat). However, studios aren’t giving up on the style. Entertainment Weekly reports that three stars have signed on for the live action/CG film Yogi Bear. Dan Aykroyd is planning to voice Yogi, while Justin Timberlake is in talks to voice his sidekick, Boo-Boo. Anna Faris might play Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker trying to film the two bears for her next project. Right now there is no word on Ranger Smith. Aykroyd seems like a solid piece of casting, but I’ve never actually seen Timberlake act; he must have done something to impress. »

It looks like some famous faces may be on their way to Jellystone Park. Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake are in talks to star in the upcoming Yogi Bear feature film.
Created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Yogi Bear debuted on The Huckleberry Hound Show in 1958 and soon graduated to his own show, The Yogi Bear Show and numerous spin-offs.
Yogi was originally voiced by the legendary Daws Butler. Following his death in 1988, many of Butler's characters were taken over by Greg Burson, one of Butler's students. Yogi's pal, Boo-Boo, was performed by Don Messick until his retirement in the 1990s and has since been played by Tom Kenny and John Kricfalusi.

Ever since a live-action, 3D Yogi Bear movie was announced back in February this year, there hasn’t really been any movement on the news front regarding it. However, fast forward to now and we may have our main cast in the form of Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris and Justin Timberlake.
Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the titular character in Yogi Bear, with Faris set to play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of Yogi in the fictional Jellystone Park. Timberlake is also in talks to join the project, possibly playing Yogi’s sidekick, Boo-Boo. The film is being directed by Eric Brevig (Journey To The Center of the Earth), and produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt as a live-action/CGI hybrid in the vein of Alvin and the Chipmunks and Garfield (aim high, why don’t you?).

I could make another joke about how Hollywood is out of ideas, but why bother? However, as further proof of the concept, a live-action/CGI Yogi Bear movie is in the works based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon from way back when. Dan Aykroyd will be lending his voice for Yogi and Justin Timberlake will be the voice of Boo Boo. Did anyone else just feel a cold shiver down their spine?
Anna Faris will also be in the movie as a documentary filmmaker. I like Anna Faris even when she's in crap movies, but I don't think her presence is going to make me like this one.

Live action/CG family comedies for everyone! That's right, yet another hybrid animated film is moving forward this week, with the announcement of some pretty big names entering discussions for the Warner Brothers adaptation of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon Yogi Bear. It looks like the studio has found voices for both Yogi and Boo-Boo, plus an actress for their first live action role. According to Variety [1], Dan Aykroyd is currently in talks to headline the film as the mischievous bear Yogi, while musician turned actor Justin Timberlake will play his faithful sidekick Boo-Boo. The Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake and Anna Faris are in contract discussions to headline the live-action/CG animated Yogi Bear movie for Warner Bros. If this is the first that you're hearing of a Yogi Bear movie, I'm sorry. These things happen.
Aykroyd would provide the voice for Yogi, who would be one of the film's CG creations. Timberlake would offer up the pipes for Boo Boo, which is pretty decent casting I suppose. Faris, best known for her roles as Cindy Campbell in four Scary Movie films, gets to play a real person in the movie, a documentary filmmaker.
Journey to the Center of the Earth's Eric Brevig will director from a screenplay by Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs). Yogi Bear and Boo Boo are bringing sexy back -- and that image should make you ripe for nightmares tonight. If you doubt me, look to Variety, who reports that Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris, and Justin Timberlake are set to go to Jellystone in Yogi Bear, which Eric Brevig is directing for Warner Bros.
Aykroyd will be voicing Yogi, and he really is the most obvious choice to play the picnic basket thief. He's funny, he sounds gruff, and if it was live-action it would be a very terrifying thing to see. So thank goodness this is being done as a CG / live-action hybrid.
