Director Alex Proyas Promises "Lots and Lots of Blood" in His New Dracula Movie

28 August 2008 12:25 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

I sure do like the upper end of Alex Proyas' imagination. After all, he gave us the film version of The Crow, which I humbly submit has a lot of influence on today's darker comic book fare. And he gave us Dark City, one of the best out-of-nowhere sci-fi movies of the past 20 years.

The big budget I, Robot is fine, I guess, and I don't think Knowing looks like it could stop you in your tracks, but when he's at his peak, Alex Proyas can be very good.

He's a perfect director for a vampire project, because of the stark point of view of his best work, which is so clearly influenced by German expressionism, so I'm holding out hope for Dracula: Year Zero. The title is awful, but Proyas told MTV recently that his movie, currently in pre-production will have "lots and lots of blood."

Watch the captivating 'Frost/Nixon' trailer

23 August 2008 11:53 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Universal recently released this highly engaging trailer for Ron Howard's upcoming drama "Frost/Nixon," which chronicles the post-Watergate confrontations between Richard Nixon (played by Frank Langella) and British television presenter David Frost (Michael Sheen). Peter Morgan ("The Queen") wrote the screenplay based on his own play. Kevin Bacon, Sam Rockwell and Oliver Platt co-star.

In case you didn't immediately recognize him as Frost, Sheen also delivered the captivating performance as Tony Blair in Stephen Frears' "The Queen." Enjoy the trailer above. It really looks like an interesting project with a bunch of solid acting. We'll see when the flick opens in limited release Dec. 5, 2008.

Michael Sheen as David Frost (left) and Frank Langella as Richard Nixon in Frost/Nixon

Photo: Universal Pictures We had to pull the link to that crappy international trailer for Frost/Nixon starring Frank Langella as Richard Nixon and Michael Sheen as David Frost (Michael Sheen), but today the official domestic trailer has appeared and Universal also sent over some new pics from the film that is already gaining Oscar buzz. Ron Howard directs Langella as Richard Nixon as the film tells the story of the battle between Nixon and television personality David Frost (Michael Sheen) as the two sat down in 1977 for Nixon's tell-all. You can watch the trailer just below (or in high definition at Yahoo) and click on any one of the thumbnails below or right here to check out the pictures. Personally, this trailer gives me the chills and the final moment makes it definite must watch.

Update: 'Frost/Nixon' Trailer is Online

22 August 2008 6:27 PM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

Update #2: The real domestic trailer is now available here. Update: Sorry, the link has been removed at the request of Universal, but considering this is out there and the film hits theaters in only a few months I expect a legit one to come online soon. On the same day I post my article of films to watch out for this coming Oscar season we get an international trailer for Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon. Frank Langella is already receiving Oscar buzz for his performance as Richard Nixon as the film tells the story of the battle between Nixon and television personality David Frost (Michael Sheen) as the two sat down in 1977 for Nixon's tell-all. I don't know anything about the confrontation, but I am hoping Howard can deliver. I am already assuming Langella will get a nom as his name was buzzy last year for his performance in Starting Out in the Evening,

Must Watch: Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon Trailer - Back Up!

22 August 2008 4:03 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

Universal has officially released the first trailer Ron Howard's Frost/Nixon and we're running it again for your viewing pleasure. The film retells the story behind the post-Watergate television interviews held between British talk-show host David Frost (played by Michael Sheen) and former president Richard Nixon (played by Frank Langella). Given the Democratic National Convention is about to kick off and the big election is just over two months away, Hollywood is throwing out every big political movie they've got before it all goes down. Frost/Nixon looks to be on the better side, coming from Ron Howard and using the same actors from the theatrical play. With a high quality trailer, this definitely does look like it'll deliver. Movie Trailer - Ron Howard's 'Frost/Nixon'

21 August 2008 1:03 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Peter Morgan's screenplay for The Queen is unquestionably good. That it shared a calendar with Morgan's adaptation of The Last King of Scotland just proves how good a writer he is and how well, in particular, he writes about power and the people who wield it.

In 1974, the most powerful person in the world was Richard Nixon, though his grip on that power was definitely slipping; by August of that year, Nixon resigned the presidency. Some three years later, Nixon appeared in a landmark television interview series with British host David Frost. Morgan's stageplay of those interviews and the events leading up to them have been turned into Frost/Nixon, a new film directed by Ron Howard, with Frank Langella starring as Nixon and Michael Sheen, brilliant in The Queen as Tony Blair, as Frost.

We've got a new trailer, in English with German subtitles, that shows a tremendous amount of promise.
