[TV] Justice League: The Complete Series

6 November 2009 8:30 AM, PST | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Before I start gushing about just how great this cartoon and, by connection, this set are, let’s establish two things. First, for every good thing I have to say about the entire set I include a single footnote: this should be available in a Blu-ray release as well, the animation would be sharper and bolder, the audio would be stunning and the entire package would have had that much more relevance considering the current trends of digital media. Second, this is so much more than just a ‘cartoon’. As is said a few times in the extra features of the series, Justice League may be the greatest superhero animated series to have ever existed. So what does that imply about this complete series set? One of the best ever?

A-z Movie Reviews – C’s

4 November 2009 5:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

To continue my review of my epic journey to watch all my films from A-z, this is the Third part.

For those that don’t know I am watching all 700+ Dvd/Bluray films from A-z which has so far taken me 2+ years to get to the end of G’s!

I thought I should retrospectively review each letter and give my top 5 films from each alpha block and maybe bring your attention to some films you may not have seen, films you’ve not seen in ages or films you should give another try.

Another letter and another bunch of classics I should own and a selection of ones I’m glad to say I don’t own.

A few to mention are Catwoman, Cannonball Run, Cape Fear, Clash of the titans, Cool running’s, City lights, Chinatown, City of God, Cheerleader Ninjas, Cool as Ice, City on Fire and Casablanca. »

Owen Wilson signs on to voice the Great Dane Marmaduke in Fox's adaptation of the famous long-running comic strip, joining Lee Pace and Judy Greer.

The strip, created in 1954 by Brad Anderson and Phil Leeming, is scripted by Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio. The story follows the Winslow family, who move from Kansas to Orange County with Marmaduke, their slobbering Great Dane who delivers chaos wherever he goes. Marmaduke winds his way into a volatile turf war between Mutts and Pedigrees while trying to gain the loving affections of a purebred and attempting to overcome his own fall from ordered grace.

Along with Wilson, Greer and Pace, the impressive cast of borrowed voices includes Amanda Seyfried, Ron Perlman, Jeremy Piven, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Stacy Ferguson, William H. Macy, Damon Wayans Jr., George Lopez, David Walliams and Finley Jacobsen.

Wilson is Marmaduke

Seems that Marley & Me did good things for Owen Wilson, so he'll be sticking in the Dog Movies realm for a little bit. The actor is the final piece of the Marmaduke casting where he'll voice the titular Great Dane. Gotta pay the rent, I guess. Wilson will be joining the likes of Ron Perlman, Emma StoneSteve Coogan and Damon & Marlon Wayans among others as the animal-side of the film while Judy Greer and William H. Macy play poop-scooping humans. Unless talking... »

Josh Lawson, Ron Perlman, and Emma Lung to Star in Charles de Lauzirika’s Feature Debut Crave

26 October 2009 10:09 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Ron Perlman (”Hellboy”), Josh Lawson (”$quid: The Movie”), and Emma Lung (”The Boys Are Back”) have all signed on to Charles de Lauzirkia’s indie thriller, “Crave”.  According to THR, the story “centers on a troubled photographer (Lawson) whose dangerous visions wreak havoc when his romance with a young woman (Lung) ends and he is pursued by a world-weary detective (Perlman).”  I love the “troubled photographer” character because I always like to imagine him down at Sears about to take a family’s Christmas photo and suddenly he screams, “The demons are coming to rape us all!”  And isn’t that really what Christmas is all about?

This is de Lauzirkia’s feature debut which he also co-wrote the script with Robert Lawton (”Sex & Sushi”).  If you don’t know who de Lauzirika is, take a look at the DVDs and Blu-rays on your shelf.  You see the ones with the greatest extra content? »
