Trailer - Carey Mulligan in 'The Greatest'

44 minutes ago | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

She should have won the Oscar - actually, you could say that about any of the Best Actress nominees...except the winner - and Carey Mulligan's next role was supposed to be Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. That got bounced to September, and if you think it was a designed move and not a last-minute decision, ask yourself why Michael Douglas graces the cover of Vanity Fair this month.

So with Wall Street on ice for a few months, that opens the door for people to either check out Mulligan in An Education (on DVD at the end of the month) or you can see here in The Greatest, opposite Pierce Brosnan and Susan Sarandon.

The film is in limited release beginning April 2nd, and here's the trailer. I expect it's only part of the beginning for Carey Mulligan. »

Screen Rant’s St Patrick’s Day Movie Special

14 hours ago | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day folks!

We’re celebrating this momentous occasion by giving a run down of the top “Irish” characters in films, top Irish actors and the top Irish films – and as Screen Rant’s Irish writer it has come down to me to deliver.

Please be aware that this isn’t a list of top Irish actors or Irish films – yes the list does include some actors who do indeed hail from the Emerald Isle, but it also includes a few who don’t!

I’ve also decided not to include any Irish-Americans on the list because, well, there’s a load of them in American films and you’d give up after the first 150 names or so!

Top Irish Characters

Malone in The Untouchables

Sean Connery received an Oscar for his performance in Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables. The Scottish-born actor made minimal effort with »

Remember Me / Robert Pattinson: More Overseas Reviews

Robert Pattinson’s Remember Me: International Reviews Directed by Allen Coulter from a screenplay by Will Fetters, Remember Me features Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Tate Ellington, and Lena Olin. Note: We’ve found a few international reviews online, mostly from Brazil and English-speaking Australia and New Zealand. We’re looking for more. Below are a few more — mixed — international reviews. "If Remember Me does well at the box office, it will in no way be a reflection of the film’s merits. Alas, Twihards will no doubt flock to the cinema to ogle over this latest Robert Pattinson vehicle and not even notice how dreary and manipulative the story is. But credit [...] »

McCourt & spark

16 March 2010 9:23 PM, PDT | NYPost.com | See recent New York Post news »

St. Patrick's day. Everything's coming up green but the economy. This day brings me to Malachy McCourt. Raised in Limerick, he has children named Siobhan, Conor and Cormac. He's on Radio Free Eireann. The man's written books on life in Ireland, on the Irish ballad "Danny Boy," and his latest is "Malachy McCourt's History of Ireland." St. Patrick Himself wasn't as Irish as Malachy McCourt. He and his late brother Frank once talked to me about the charms of March 17th. What he said was: "God bless Ireland. »

Preliminary 2011 Oscar Contenders: Part Two

16 March 2010 11:21 AM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Welcome back for part two of my four part look at the early 2011 Oscar Contenders. If you didn't check out Part One you can do so right here or use the link at the bottom of page two of this post. However, first things first, there has already been a change to part one as a watchful reader has pointed me to an article from the Los Angeles Times saying Andrew Jarecki's All Good Things is no longer at the Weinstein Co. as the director has bought back the domestic rights and is now shopping them around to potential distributors and hopes to have a deal in place shortly. This doesn't change much, but it does mean we have a change in distributor.

There was also a slight change in my numbers as another film was added to my list, bringing the total to 73 individual films plus my animated and documentary contenders, »

Robert Pattinson’s Remember Me: Canadian Reviews

16 March 2010 10:13 AM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

Robert Pattinson’s starring vehicle Remember Me was also greeted by mixed reviews in Canada. Here are a few snippets from both English- and French-language publications. Directed by Allen Coulter from a screenplay by Will Fetters, Remember Me also features Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Tate Ellington, and Lena Olin. "Neither good nor bad, Remember Me has exactly the same mood of its dominant color: an insipid gray with barely any shine to it, soft and lacking attractiveness — a metaphorical portrait of its protagonists. Young viewers will find their idol as tortured as in the popular vampire features, while fans of romantic dramas will wait patiently until the dough rises …" Le [...] »

Remember Me Review

16 March 2010 8:18 AM, PDT | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

Forget what you think you know about this movie. And forget what you think you know about Robert Pattinson. This film is far more than a love story. Plus, Pattinson’s acting abilities are better than the one particular role he’s known for playing.

Go into this movie with an open mind, and what you’ll find is an engaging film that is simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming. The story and actors swirl together like a perfect cup of coffee with just the right amount of cream and sugar. The subtle sweetness cuts the underlying bitterness. And, in fact, that’s exactly the word I would use to describe Remember Me – bittersweet…read more [Killer Film]

Disaffected twentysomething Tyler (Robert Pattinson) is still coping with the aftershocks of his older brother’s suicide several years earlier. His parents (Pierce Brosnan and Lena Olin) are separated and his younger sister (Ruby Jerins) is an outcast at school. »

Indie Film Q & A with Heidi Van Lier: Did the Spirit Awards Suck-It This Year?

Q: Did the Spirit Awards suck-it this year?

A: Um - No! Not even sure that is possible, but since everyone on the indie planet has asked me about my little adventure last week, I thought I'd come up with a timeline to explain all that went down...

5:15

Realized I was already 15 minutes late for something I had heard I should be there for at 5. Carolyn Cohagan calls and informs me that I don't have to be there till 6:30, at the earliest.

On the road. Realize I forgot to bring cash, but no need, I have a parking pass.

6:32

Get in parking lot line and into parking structure and am informed that I have to pay $20 for parking and will be escorted to the exit immediately. I ask where there is an Atm, the parking girl tells me on Figueroa. I ask her if it's safe. »

What Do You Make Of The Less-Than-Stellar Opening For 'Remember Me'?

15 March 2010 8:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

On paper, it was a surefire weekend winner. A "Twilight" star and a "Lost" star in the male and female leads, respectively. Chris Cooper and Pierce Brosnan supporting the starring duo of Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin. A dramatic story where Twilighters finally get to see RPattz stretch himself.

With all of that going for it, "Remember Me" still clocked in an opening weekend box office gross of $8.3 million, which was only good enough to land the number four spot on the charts, behind "Alice in Wonderland," "Green Zone" and "She's Out of My League." I'm here to try to figure out what happened.

Was "Remember Me" on your radar, Twilighters? Were you excited for it? Those who saw it: did you enjoy the movie? I'd really like to hear from you readers on this. Let us know here in the comments section (remember: you can sign in with »

Robert Pattinson in Remember Me, James Dean, The Catcher In The Rye

15 March 2010 6:45 AM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

Robert Pattinson’s Tyler Hawkins in Allen Coulter’s romantic drama Remember Me (above, with Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan) has been compared to James Dean’s characters in the 1955 classics East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause. Created by Will Fetters, the early 21st-century Tyler feels he’s misunderstood by his wealthy father (Brosnan), has a troubled relationship with a young woman (de Ravin), and is undecided about his future. Dean’s thoroughly misunderstood mid-20th-century characters have serious issues with both parents, have budding love affairs with young women (Julie Harris, Natalie Wood), and would probably have difficulty spelling the word “adulthood.” Rebelliousness against accepted social values and tragedy of some sort or other are to be found in all three films. Beware of major "Remember Me" spoilers below.

From Paul Greengrass' nerve-jangling "United 93" to Adam Sandler's maudlin drama "Reign Over Me," the events of September 11, 2001, have served as both the main event and the trauma-infused context for a string of Hollywood films. The latest cinematic exploration of 9/11 comes during Robert Pattinson's romantic drama "Remember Me."

At the end of what appears to be a commonplace love story between two young New Yorkers — played by Pattinson and "Lost" star Emilie de Ravin — the audience learns that the events of the film are actually set almost one decade in the past. Pattinson's character travels up to his father's office, which we suddenly realize »

Cinefantastique Horror, Fantasy & Science Fiction Podcast V1:E5 - Overlooked & Underrated: Ink, Ghost Writer, Dr. Parnassus

14 March 2010 7:44 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

It's a genre light week, with no new horror, fantasy, or science fiction titles released in cinemas, so Dan Persons, Lawrence French, and Steve Biodrowski take this opportunity to shine a little much-deserved light on some overlooked and/or under-rated genre titles. The main topic of discussion is Ink, the surprisingly good low-budget fantasy film about a girl kidnapped by a dream demon. Also under analysis, Roman Polanski's Kafkaesque thriller The Ghost Writer, starring Pierce Brosnan and Ewan McGregor, playing in limited release in New York and Los Angeles. And Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, which received only a small release earlier this year. Weekend Box Office: Alice In Wonderland Rules; Green Zone, Remember Me Disappoint

Tim Burton’s fantasy-adventure blockbuster had a below-average 46 percent drop from the previous weekend chiefly thanks to great Saturday/Sunday business. (Friday’s decrease had been steeper — 57 percent.) Alice in Wonderland’s total take to date is $208.6 million — the first 2010 release to cross the $200 million mark. The [...] »

Review: Remember Me

14 March 2010 11:39 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Remember Me was released in the Us this weekend.  Since it’s not released in the UK until April 2nd, I’ll keep it as spoiler free as possible.  The general gap in release dates is actually discussed in another post that you can find here.  Now, on to the review.

Remember Me tells the story of Tyler (Robert Pattinson) and Ally (Emilie de Ravine) as two twenty something college students, both rocked by individual family tragedies and both fighting their own personal demons.

Toward the beginning of the film, Tyler ends up getting arrested and the arresting officer happens to be Ally’s father, Sgt. Neil Craig (Chris Cooper).  Encouraged by his best friend, Tyler initiates a relationship with Ally as a way of “getting back” at her father.

Tyler, of course, has issues of his own.  He’s floating through life, not really focused on anything.  The only »

Title: Remember Me Directed By: Allen Coulter Starring: Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, Ruby Jerins, Tate Ellington We can’t expect every movie to be good, but there’s nothing worse than walking out of a theater downright angry. Overall, Remember Me is rather boring, but manages to squeeze in a few powerful moments making it worthwhile. But when a real life tragedy is used as a last ditch effort to evoke emotion, Remember Me transforms into something you’ll be eager to forget. Edward Cullen, er - Robert Pattinson leads as Tyler, an Nyu student who’s undecided - about everything. He adores his young sister, Caroline (Ruby Jerins), but struggles [...] »

So, here are a few more culled today from various publications. Starring Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin, Remember Me was directed by Allen Coulter from a screenplay by Will Fetters. Also in the cast: Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, and Lena Olin. "Consensus: Its leads are likeable, but Remember Me suffers from an overly maudlin script and a borderline offensive final twist." Movie Review: “Remember Me”

13 March 2010 7:30 PM, PST | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

Seen on: March 13, 2010

The players: Director: Allen Coulter, Writer: Will Fetters, Cast: Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Chris Cooper, Pierce Brosnan, Tate Ellington

Facts of interest: Allen Coulter also helmed "Hollywoodland."

The plot: A young man who struggles with the death of his brother meets and falls for a young woman whose mother was murdered when she was a kid.

Our thoughts: Will I remember Allen Coulter’s tragic drama “Remember Me” in a week? Chances are I won’t, but believe it or not, it’s actually not Robert Pattinson’s fault. The guy who lacks bite in the “Twilight” flicks really manages to deliver a better performance here, but sadly enough, it’s the script he’s working with that doesn’t stick. »
