  • The awards were inaugurated in 1979 to honor achievements in cable programming that at the time were not eligible for the Emmy Awards Although cable shows have been eligible for Emmy Awards since 1988, cable officials have chosen to maintain their separate awards ceremony.
  • The awards are no longer given. The last ceremony took place in 1997.
